What's New for the Carrs

Jan 15, 2011

Well since the last time I posted on my blog, Darin has had his 2nd appt. and I've completed my first.  We've also had our pre-op visit with the Dr.  This didn't go so well for the hubby as he found out he has diabetes.   We are treating it with medication and hopefully we can get it under control so he can be medically cleared for surgery.  I go on the 25th to meet for my psych eval.  Darin has already done this step.  We've also attended our required support group meeting.  After Darin's next appt. I'm wondering if his claim will be submitted.

At my first appt. with the surgeon, we discussed the possiblity of the gastic not being a possibility because of scaring from previous surgeries.  We may have to go with the sleeve as an alternative.  Either way, I'm fine.  I would love to go the gastric just do have the double duty tool, but some tool is better than no tool.  Darin lost 13 or so lbs. from visit 1 to visit 2.  WTG baby!!!!

The cat has been let out of the bag so to speak, as we are now telling folks about our decision for the surgery.  It's funny seeing peoples reactions.  Some are excited, some show concern, and others I think just don't know what to think.

Still an exciting journey.  Hoping hubby starts to feel better soon.  I know his spirits have been down.  Hoping for the best for the man I love.
