I have been struggling with my weight since my early twenties. I am 47 now and the weight has become a health issue. I would like to be healthier by the time I turn 50. I am looking into this surgery as a last resort. Hopefully this will help put an end to my struggle.
02/20/02 I have a consultation with Dr. Shina April 16.
04/16/02 Met with Dr. Shina in a group setting. He explained alot and answered many questions. I had already done a lot of research on my own, so I knew most of what he talked about. After the group session, Dr. Shina met with each one alone. I believe he really knows how to help me, and I believe if I will do as he says, I will be successful in losing this weight and become healthy. I am waiting now for insurance approval.
05/07/02 Insurance denied me. They want all the i's dotted and all the t's crossed. I sent them some more information that they requested and I appealed.
05/17/02 Insurance approved me. I have a surgery date now. July 25...YEAH!
05/24/02 Appointment with a psychologist Dr. Al Perkins in Louisville.
06/25/02 Appointment at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville for my pre-ops.
07/18/02 Appointment to see pulmonologist this morning and cardiologist this afternoon in Louisville.
07/25/02 Surgery. Went well.
But who am I kidding? The struggle never ends.
