Improvement
Mar 30, 2011
Big mprovement on my mental outlook. Last week was rough. Totally not what I ever expected. BUT...life moves on.I saw a pulmonary doctor last week. He reviewed what happened during the beginnings of the surgery and why the surgery was stopped. He believes the cold I had back in January was actually bronchitis and my airways were not 100% clear of it even though I was feeling fine. By putting the tubes down my throat it "triggered" an asthma-like attack. Basically my lungs were saying no way. So, I was put on steroids, a steroid inhaler and a regular inhaler.
Today I had a pulmonary field test (PFT). My oxygen level has increased from last week. I was at 98% today. This is a big improvement. I was at 89% last week. The test results were better than I anticipated. The wheezing is better today. The congestion better too. I learned that I will not have any long term damage from this. This is a HUGE relief.
I have lost a few pounds in the past week. Guess that's a good thing. I'm going to make a good effort to stay "good" and continue to loose some weight until I get rescheduled. I see the surgeon next Friday. Curious as to what her reaction will be with everything. I have not heard from anyone from the weight center since all this happened. Guess I really am just a statistic and not a person to them. Odd that they don't have a list of things for me to "follow" now. I don't know if I'm just being negative or just feeling like they should have some type of support for a situation like this. Feeling a bit lost I guess...a limbo of sorts.
