My Journey so far.

I decided to write about my journey so far into recieveing WLS.
September 29th- I decided that I had made up my mind, and I wanted to go through with the WLS. So I began my journey....
October 1st- I attended the online seminar because I wasn't able to attend the seminars they hold every Wed. US Bariatrics requires you to either attend an 'In Person' seminar or an online seminar before you are able to set up your consultation.
October 5th- I submitted my New Patient application via fax to Celebration Hospital. US Bariatrics is whom they are associated with, and they require you to print and fill out the application, you recieve after completing your online seminar, before you are able to set up a consultation. Basicly the New Patient Application is four pages long,it's very short BTW and it's for insurance verification.
October 8th- One of the ladies from Celebration hospital here in Kissimmee, called me to go over what I needed for Aetna to approve my surgery. You have to complete these steps beofre you are able to set up a consultation, If your using insurance. So here is what Aetna requires...
1. 6 months of documented diet and exercise.
2. Letter of Medical Nescessity, I would assume from Your Primary Care Physician.
3. Psychological Evaluation, which is $500.00
4. Nutritional Consultant
5. Documented 5 years medical records-they want this to state you have been obese for at least 5 years.
6. Clinical Note (not to sure what that is was writing fast)
7.TSH Test- basicly current thyroid level
*So after all that is done they will submit your paperwork to the insurance company and it takes 2-3 weeks for results and you see what goes from there.
*Also Aetna for US Bariatric only covers 75% of the surgical cost. So prior to surgey I believe she said I have to pay the surgical cost of $4895.00.
October 16th- I sit here right now finsihing up my entry, I go see my PCP on Oct.29th to start my 6 month documented diet and exercise. Hopefully it's a smooth road after. I will try to update as I recieve more information. Anyways Take Care everyone.
