Hey y'all! A little about me...let's see. I am 33, married to an amazing husband, and we have one son. He is 6 and just a delight and a ball of energy. Like many I have struggled with my weight since childhood. I am from the South where everything in life revolves around food. And I come from a long line of great cooks and obesity on both sides. So far I have been lucky to not have any comorbidities, but diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and more run in my family heavily. I know that if I don't get my life together and get healthy it will just be a matter of time until something happens.I started really researching WLS about 8 years ago. I was interested in lap and, but had no bariatric coverage with our insurance. Fast forward to 2016, and even with job and insurance changes, still no coverage. After my mom died unexpectedly last year, I really did some reflecting on my life. I want to live a long and healthy life.So with savings, and financing and a little help along the way I finally have enough to self pay for VSG. I started the process only to get discouraged halfway when my surgeon up and decided to leave the practice. I did not give up! I researched and found a new Surgeon and I could not be happier with my choice! I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared, but I am also excited. This is my chance to take control of my health and finally be the ME who is buried under all this fat, miserable and tired. on December 14th, I am breaking free!
