Hello

My name is Jacylyn (j-ass-a-lynn) and I am a 30 year old mother of 3.  I have struggled with my weight since 2nd grade.  I had to wear boy's husky jeans back then, and I was wearing misses clothing in 4th - 8th grade, and after that it was size 14, 16, and 18 jeans and T-shirts all through high school and college.  I was 170 the summer of '97, then I gained 30 pounds in the months following that (which I blamed on birth control and quitting smoking).  I then managed to put on an additional 30 pounds over the next 2 years.  My 1st wedding was in 2001, and after starving myself (literally) and working out 7 days a week I got down to 194.  We went on a cruise, and I haven't seen a "1" in front since.  That marriage didn't work out and I remarried in 2003.  I was 230 in January of 2003 and I have been between that and 270 ever since.  I had a few instances that I was down to 220ish and that was after delivering my children and breastfeeding.  In the past year I have tried SO hard to take the weight off.  I was a member of the YMCA and joined a class called "Move It To Lose It" based on the show "The Biggest Loser."  I worked my butt off every day, ate like a mouse and my trainer told me I had to have been breaking the rules because I should be losing weight.  That was painful to hear and made me feel like I wasn't trying hard enough.  After that I went to a nutritionist and followed her directions to a "T" and I lost 5 pounds over the course of a month.  Frustrated by this, I went to my PCP at the time and he ordered all kinds of bloodwork, etc., and he came back to me with this statement, "You just have a slow metabolism.  You are going to have to accept the weight that you are and know that you just weren't meant to be thin."  That was like getting punched in the face then getting kicked in the stomach when I was down.  I had gone to a Barix Clinics consultation in December '05, but found out days later I was pregnant.  I went back in September '07, and they said we were still able to move forward now.  Then I found out that my insurance did not cover it.  My husband and I had to decide whether we wanted to just do it and finance it ourselves, or wait until the new year to see how our new insurance would handle it.  Insurance pays 90% with my out of pocket max of $1000!  My surgery cost insurance about $20,500, but the amount submitted was over $42,000!!!  I am loving United Healthcare .  I am starting a new and healthy life, and feeling good about myself for the first time in my life.  At 30, I think it's been a long time coming.
