WELL, HELL!

Dec 01, 2013

MANAGED to GAIN all lost weight back.  Don'T know WHAT to do.  Have been reading and thE sleeve and duodenal switch sounds like my best option, but I want that lap band GONE.  Vomiting daily is not my favorite activity.  Don't really know who is on here anymore but maybe someone is.

Unhappy in Colorado

Dec 20, 2010

Well, 6 rotator cuff surgeries, one failed arm, 1 scoped knee, nearly 3 year out from surgery.  The scale is going UP instead of down.  I don't know what to do.  I am under a tremendous amount of stress, have started drinking coffee, after being caffeine free.  I'm up 2 jean sizes, back to a mans 2xl shirt and see the fat girl in the mirror.  What is doing this?  Once a month I get a blizzard.  I know I have forgotten what I need to eat and need to go back to "school" again.  I'm drinking sodas, eating Yoplait light instead of Fage.  I'm just really unhappy.  Is caffeine the culprit?

unhappy and sick

May 03, 2009

I have pneumonia.  the antibiotic they gave me is one (as are all) that I'm allergic to.  I spent 7 days drugged to hell and back trying not to be aware of the nausea and pain.  I'm at 9cc in my band.  Thanks to the pneumonia and dehydration, I've lost 10 pounds.  That will probably come back.  I am having trouble urinating.  I went four times in 9 days.  Went to the hosp., and they say the kidneys are functioning fine so bye-bye.  No liquids given, no fix.

Now the pain is back in the chest, and I've fallen in the shower and my spine hurts.  Just kill me now.  I've had it with this life.  Maybe in next one I'll be skinny.

PLATEAU BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Aug 31, 2008

It only took MONTHS due to 2 surgeries after the band, the initial and 2 additional fills, but today, the plateau is broken.

I've been on liquids or mushies since Thursday the 28th, and have been stuck twice sine then.  Thanks, triscuits and an omlet.  But, with Sandy R's help and guidance, I've gotten control.

Now, I get to find out if the weight loss will continue with mushies and them solids.  I have one advantage now that I didn't before:  my 7.5 fill in a 14 cc band.  Please let this work.  I would love to be 45.5 pounds down by Christmas!

I love yellow squash.  I loved it before the band.  I've turned what I loved into a soup.  Here's the recipe.  I believe it has about 104 calories per cup and is good, at least to me.  I make it in quantity so that I can freeze it and reheat it as I want it.

4 large yellow squash
6 tsp. Kraft grated parmesan cheese (the green can)
1/3 c. low fat mozzarella cheese
1/3 to 1/2 cup I can't believe it's not butter spray

Remove the ends of the squash and discard.  Wash the squash and cut into 1 1/2 wide circles.  Place in a steamer and salt with coarse salt .  I use salt here rather than later.   Once the squash is pretty soft (you probably wouldn't be able to lift it with a pair of tongs), dump all of it and the other ingredients into the blender.  Turn that puppy on to low, then med, then high.  You will end up with a hot soup that can be refrigerated or frozen.  I love it hot.

Bad-backed into son's car.
Good-deductible wasn't changed to $1000 yet.
Bad-10 yr. old adorable dog whom everyone loves diagnosed with inoperable bladder cancer.  3 mos-2 years as estimates.

That's the way my world is going.  It really doesn't pay to get up.

Wednesday--Two weeks and 1 day

May 14, 2008

Well, I finally managed to break the plateau-by 1/2 pound!  Joy.  I spent 8 hours yesterday dealing with my 18, soon to be 19, year old's mess from Mother's Day.  It was a total disaster, with screaming, crying, and threats.

I used to think that teenagers were easier.  I still believe that.  I think that a bunch of his anger towards me right now is that he is overweight and jealous that my mom gave me the lap band.  I'm losing the weight and he's struggling to deal with seeing it happen and me be so very dedicated to it.

And, by the way, the brownies are still in the house and I'm NOT eating them!!!

Saturday--Shameful Day

May 10, 2008

Well, I can't believe that I have been so weak, so wasteful of the money for surgery.

My daughter was multitasking yesterday.  She ended up needing help with, of all things, my best brownie recipe.  Not the easy stuff, but the pouring them into the pans, scraping the beater, and then of course, telling if they were done.  I scraped and scraped and tried to get all the batter into the pans.  I didn't want any left on the beater, bowl or spoon.  But, I was unable to do the job properly.  I caved.  The batter from the spoon, the excess in the bowl, the beater-all devoured in a hedonistic manner.  And this morning, she left half a pan here for some reason, and I had two, a 2x2 and a 2x4.

I haven't lost an ounce in a week or ten days, I'm otherwise very strict on calorie intake, protein, albeit in powder form, vegetables, fruit.  I can't lose.  I'm not allowed to exercise right now, being less than 2 weeks out.  And now, I've tasted forbidden fruit.

Where will this lead...?

Tuesday--30.5 pounds gone!

May 06, 2008

Monday was spent driving to Denver for a check up with Dr. K., and driving back, attending daughter's final school concert, which coincidentally was her teacher's final one and the principal's final one.

So today, I actually used my protein powder to make a smoothie.  I used the xler8 build powder.  It is vanilla flavored, and made a very good smoothie.  Ate some of those steamed carrots with splenda and a touch of butter.

Went to Physical therapy for my shoulder and was told i'm getting very close to once a week therapy.  That is a big WOOT!!!  I thought rotator cuff was supposed to be difficult to recover from.  I guess I'm just on a lucky streak!

Relaxing weekend

May 04, 2008

This weekend has been rather calm.  Reading, napping, having the pain in the belly go away.  I'm back to sleeping in my own bed vs. the recliner.  The dogs and a cat are happy about that.  One cat  that we call Oreo manages to make her way into the bedroom without the dogs freaking out and gets up on the bed and perches on my waist or leans up against my legs and cuddles up,  We've nicknamed her Puddle.

I actually cooked a little for the family.  Not much, but it was an effort.  I watered my African violets, put some steamed carrots and mashed potatoes up.  Then, I started 5 yellow squash steaming and will puree them and put them up to eat next week in different meals.  So, I'm getting the hang of this mushie foods thing.  I guess next will be grinding up burger meat and chicken.

May 2--a lighter me!

May 02, 2008

Boy, that ticker's wrong!  I've lost more weight since the surgery!!!  I've also been given clearance to go to mushie foods, such as pasta, potatoes, and even chicken enchiladas if I put them through the blender!  Before bed each night, I'm going to drink an Atkins shake to help me to sleep.

Now if someone can figure out a way to take pills without putting them in applesauce!
