I went to the seminar that is required before you can start the process with the doctor for gastric bypass surgery.  I learned alot of things.  It was all really pretty interesting.  I was shocked that there was a 500 fee they charge.  The fee is suppose to cover psy. evaluation, nutrition, exercise classes...etc.  They said it was also to see who was truly interested in getting the surgery because you wouldn't pay that kind of money and not go through with it.  They have a valid point.  No body just wants to throw 500 dollars away.   My next appointment will be with the nurse pract.  It is for May 31st but I pray that they will have a cancellation and get me in sooner.  I guess if worse comes to worse I will be stuck with that date.  But oh well, I will take what I can get.  The nurse prac. meeting last for a little over an hour.  She decides what evaulations you will need pshycially and for your insurance.

I found out on April 26th(Thursday) that I have been approved for laproscopic gastric bypass.  My Dr. will be Dr. Dalton Prickett at Palmetto Baptist Hospital here in Columbia, SC.  I am glad that I will not have to travel all that far.  Also, I have to attend a seminar at the Baptist center on May 8th.   I can't wait to get everything rolling.  My husband has just gotten orders for our next duty station.  We will be leaving around mid July.  Makes me nervous because there is no other place that I would prefer to have the surgery and I am really looking forward to having Dr. Prickett as my surgeon.  I just hope I can get things moving along!!  God Please Be With Me!!!!!

Well here is my first bump in the road to WLS.  I called to check on my referral that should have been sent in last Wednesday (April 18th); or so I thought it was going to be.  The lady that does the referrals for my doctor said she was working on mine as we were speaking.  I asked her to please fax it to Tricare if she would this afternoon.(considering it was already 4pm..... I am hoping that it is sent in this afternoon I should say.)  She was really nice. I am sure that she is trying to do a ton of work; but I really want this so bad and it all starts with insurance approval.  I shall pray and trudge forward.  Hopefully, by the grace of God I will know something by Friday afternoon; if not I guess by the beginning of the next week.  I am a little sad and disappointed; but I will not give up !!!!!

I went to my PCP Tuesday April 17th.  It was to get a referral to send to Tricare for the laproscopic gastric bypass.  We went over several different issuses:  co-morbs, family history with obesity, and my past diet history.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.  Now I am left to wait seven to ten days to see if Tricare approved or not.  I have made up my mind.  If I am not approved I will fight until I am approved.  I know I meet the qualifications.  I am ready for this change in my life.  I will fight for it.  I am very scared at the same time.  I hope that it is approved first try it would make things so much easier.
