I've been overweight since 2nd grade. I've gone up and down many times, but it has been a continuous battle for me to keep weight off. About 4 years ago, at the age of 28 I was put on high blood pressure medicine. About 2 years ago my weight had increased a lot in a short amount of time and my doctor suggested weight loss surgery, but I was getting married in the next few months and felt at that time I could try to take the weight off myself. I wasn't mentally ready for such a huge life experience. As time has gone on it's become an even harder struggle for me to take off the weight. Gaining almost 30 lbs since my doctor originally suggested it and still many failed attempts at losing and keeping it off, I decided the time was right for me to begin this journey. I went to my doctor this past June and let him know that I was seriously contemplating weight loss surgery and I now felt like I am ready. He recommended a great program at a local hospital, which I started the following week. I've started losing weight and completely changed my eating habits. My surgeon says I am ready for surgery and she would like to do it in September. Now I am just waiting on insurance approval and the actual date. I'm so excited that I have started this process. I've never been more ready for anything in my life!
