MY STORY/ I’ve seen the pictures of myself as a normal size child, but the weight piled on once puberty began.  The first “diet” I remember started after a family intervention, consisted of weekly weigh ins at a “diet  doctor” ,diet pills, sleeping pills, water pills, b 12 injections, constant weighing  and measuring  of everything that went into my mouth. I lost 40 lbs. after 6 months, and then quickly gained it all back and more.  Attempt #2 was as a senior in high school as a conditional requirement for admissions into nursing school. That effort landed me a hospital admission for gallbladder surgery one week before school started.  I’m 54 years old, married for 34 years to the kindest and most supportive man in the world. We have two grown daughters and two wonderful granddaughters. Over the past ten years, my health has slowly deteriorated as my weight has escalated. P.C.O.S., sudden death syndrome, metabolic syndrome, sleep apnea, (lumbar) compression fractures, have taken a toll on my quality of life.  A dear friend shared with me her decision to have a VSG and recommended the OH site. Her transformation has been so dramatic that I began to believe there was hope for me too.  July 4^th 2008 was the beginning of my independence from pain and pills. I’m on my way to a healthier, happier more gratifying life!
