9 mos post op

Jul 28, 2009

Wow time flies!  I'm 9 mos out, down 90 lbs!!! I wanted to get to 150 but I'm only 5 lbs away from that, so thinking I might go for 140!  I am so happy with where I am though, very grateful!!!  I always tell my husband, if I didn't lose another pound from this moment on, I'd still be one happy girl             I am loving my progress and the way I feel in general.  I am down to a size 8 jeans and size medium top.  Smaller than when I graduated high school!!  Can't wait to keep going!!!

4 mos post-op

Feb 24, 2009

So, 4 mos out, down 64 lbs and have lost more than 40 inches!!! That is pretty amazing.  Getting smaller by the day it seems.  I'm loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!  Most people would probably think I am an incredible dork for getting excited about something like this:: over the weekend, my husband and I took the two babes to McDonald's playland (I ate salad as always when we are out, or plain grilled chicken) and I was able to actually play with them!!!! I crawled through those tubes 3 times and slid down the slide!  Holy cow, it was so fun and felt so great to enjoy my babes more than I used to be able to.  Before I would never have attempted because I wouldn't have fit through.  Embarrassing to say but very true.  Never again!!!! I can go play any time I want these days!!!!!!!

Almost 3 mos post op

Jan 11, 2009

Thursday will be 3 mos post op!  My how time flies.  I have said since the beginning that I absolutely do not regret having this done.  I know without a doubt that if I hadn't, I would still be in the same place, which is 54 lbs heavier!  All that I have gone through is worth every second.  I had a long recovery period after surgery.  I followed my guidelines and still ended up vomitting to the point where I was almost dehydrated.  The vomitting lasted for close to two months, literally every day.  In those two months, I had 2 strictures where the opening from my pouch to my small intestine was literally healing itself shut so nothing could get through.  Sometimes I couldn't even hold liquid.  I had to have two Endoscopy procedures done and have the opening stretched back out.  After surviving this hell and living on a liquid diet for the most part, I am finally pushing through it and moving forward.  The sickness has subsided for an entire week, which is amazing.  I am feeling so much better!  I have started taking vitamins also which I believe are key in my energy level.  This journey has been a crazy ride so far, but so worth it.  I am down from a size 22/24 to a 16!!!!!!!!  I am now smaller than when I met my husband.  It can only get better for him!  I have lost over 25 inches overall and 54 lbs to date!  How amazing is that?  It hasn't been easy but I'll never regret  my life changing decision.

I read other peoples blogs to learn about what is to come and mistakes to avoid.  I really worry about those who are in the stages of losing from surgery but have yet to change their eating habits.  Luckily, this is something that I have already started and doing well with.  I have my moments when I see people eating whatever they want and in large quantities and sometimes it kills me mentally to know I will never eat everything I want and will never eat in large quantities again.  But the moment passes and I re-focus on all of the positives, and to tell the truth, watching people eat things I can't have and not eating them myself, especially in large quantities, is not really a negative.  Without those types of foods, I will be much healthier.  I just want to say to those who are struggling to change their habits to do it now, in the very early stages.  If you wait, chances are, you aren't going to change your eating habits.  Your weight loss will not sustain itself without you doing your part.  After the surgery has done it's part, it is up to you to continue making your weight loss a success.  Hang in there and try not to get discouraged.  Take it one day at a time, making small goals so that they are reached more easily.  Don't give up on yourself!!!!

two days to go

Oct 13, 2008

I think I am finally getting excited.  A little nervous too.  The drainage tube kind of freaks me out.  I have read where some people have to keep them in for 1-2 weeks.  They told me I would have mine out before  I left the hospital.  I hope so!!!

Surgery 3 days away

Oct 12, 2008

I am so excited that I almost cannot stand it!!! I am trying not to drive my husband crazy by talking about it, but it's difficult!  I have been researching surgery since the beginning of this year.  After doing a lot of research, I narrowed it down between Lap-Band and Rouen-Y.  I presented my husband with the information and was surprised at his support.  The whole surgery thing bothered him, but he wants me to be healthy and happier.  When I first saw Dr. Balliro, my weight was 252 lbs, and I am 5'3".  Short and fat.  After consulting with Dr. Balliro, we decided to go with Rouen-Y.  The insurance process was no picnic but was successful.  I am now on my way.  My heaviest weight was 265.  I am now at 245.  I cannot wait to feel like a healthy person again, to lift my toddlers and climb the stairs without feeling like I just ran a mile.  I am hoping to network and use this site as a support group.  We live in the middle of the desert in Wyoming.  My family lives in Ohio and Kentucky so I am on my own!!! My husband works long hard hours so it will be challenging but one I can't wait to start!  I will post again next weekend, POST-OP!!!!!!!
