I am 31 years old, an emergency dispatcher and married for 2 years to a Firefighter/Paramedic. I have been obese since the third grade. I have lost a baby to a miscarriage because of my weight and missed out on fun activities as well. It's embarrassing when you have to be put in the one and only plus size seat on a roller coaster. It's even more embarrassing that they call for the plus size seat over the loud speaker. 
My husband and I could not get approved through our insurance to have the VSG, so we decided to go to Mexico to have it done because we had to pay out of pocket. Taking the weight loss journey together has it's ups and downs, but we are a team no matter what. Todd has lost over 50 lbs so far (one month later) and I have been stuck at a 40 lb weight loss for 2 weeks. I have mixed feelings about the surgery so far. I am thankful to have lost 40 lbs, but I still have a long way to go and I feel like my body is done. I hope with perseverance and hope, we can make it to our goals weight soon.
