Hello Everyone,

Its been sooo many years since I posted on here and I just want to say that it's been 6 years now and of the weight that I lost, I have gained 20 lbs back in that time. I lost my job in 2011 and that's when I started gaining weight again. Since 2013 I not gained any extra weight, besides that 20 lbs but I do fluctuate between 15 to 20 off and on. I still love the weight that I have lost and I am happy with the results but I am going to lose this 20 lbs. As of today, I am 190 lbs.

Hello everyone,

Its been about 3 months since I was last here and I have not lost a lot of weight since then but my body sure does look different. I can fit in size 14/16 now and I can really tell the different myself looking at my pics. The only problem I have had is with my hair and I have started taken the biotin to help that. I realize how important it is to get in my protein and water as these are the 2 key things that we miss out on. Not to mention taking the rquired vitamins. Sometimes it can get old and of course you get tired of taking all of the vitamins. But, when I look at my body, I think to myself, "It's worth it" and I don't want to feel sluggish or tired so I keep taking them, and I keep eating what I should eat. I hope that is someone reads this, and they are thinking of having the surgery or have already had it, and are at the beginning, that they know to hang in there and yes, it does get better, but it's up to you. I am 45 and my life has changed immensley. I can't begin to tell you how much more energy I have now and how much better I feel overall. If I had to do it all over again the only thing I would change is how long I waited to have this surgery.

Back here again.

Well, I am back here again to update everyone who sees this on how I have been doing. My last tests were really good and my Vitamin D went up some but still is lower than it should be. The funny thing is that I have not lost a lot of weight but I am dropping sizes. I have probably lost 70 lbs or more, which has not changed a lot since I was last on here, but I am now in 16/18 size, which is what I was and was in a size 20/22 in July. I know I have to get the exercise down and I will probably lose much quicker but I feel so much better. I only had one problem. My hair has come out very badly now, but I have found out about the biotin and found it in subling
ual form. Not much else to say but I will post pics soon.

Hello again people,

It has been a long time since I have been here but I figured I needed to post some new pics and let you know what's going on with me.  Well, with my 3 month visit I found out that my vitamin D was low so Dr. Dyer put on on 10,000 IUs of vitamin D but besides that the rest of my lab work looks excellent that was in April of 2009.  I had my 3 months blood work done this month and everything is pretty much the same accept that my Vitamin D level has went up some but is still too low.  I have just a few days where I feel drained but I had a lot of those days before I ever had the surgery.  I am realizing the importance of taking my vitamins and coming up with other ways to take vitamins, like in liquid form for Vitamin D and Calcium Citrate.  Also that water is too important so I make sure I get it in even when I don't feel like it.  I have not lost as much weight as I should have but I have not had much time ti exercise but 70 lbs is not too bad for me.  I feel so much better since losing this weight.  I have posted some pics but have lost about 10 more lbs since these pics were posted.  The only problem I see is that my hair has thinned out a lot and I am looking into finding out what I can do about that.

Hello everyone.  I saw Dr. Dyer for my 3 week follow-up and so far I have lost only 20 lbs counting preop weight loss, but that's because I have been having problems with my back and have not really done any excercises.  I have been very compliant with my vitamins and eating but just have to get started with the exercising.  I did try some things that did not set well with my stomach.  I can not do any type of diet sodas because the fizz comes back up everytime.  I will stick with my Wyler's and Crystal light.  I did find that the Lipton Green tea Citrus diet is very good though and I have no problem getting it down.  I have had a few problems getting water down so I try to think of all the different ways to get my fluids in.  I used to drink water room temp but now I have trouble getting it down unless it is ice cold.  I can see that life has chance for me.  I do miss now being able to just chug down my water but of course there are some things that have to be given up.  Other than the crazy things going on with my eating habits and my back, I am doing fine with the rest and no complaints.  I knew that it was meant for Dr. Dyer to do my surgery, I could not have asked for a better surgeon.

Well people, I finally had it done. All the cancelled surgeries and fears and now it is done.  My surgery was performed on Jan 5, 2009 and although I was not in fear of this, I really hate being put to sleep.  It happened so quickly that of course I don't remember anything accept waking up in recovery.  I was in some pain but it was to be expected. I was at the hospital for 3 full days and left on Jan 8.  My experience while in the hospital was just excellent.  Dr. Dyer performed my surgery and I was up and walking that evening.  My cousin, Roseanna, who is a real angel, stayed with me through the whole process and was just there helping me with everything.  I have to say that I seem to have had more problems since coming home than I did when I was in the hospital.  The first night I got home my cycle started prematurely and brought along with it a horrible backache which of course turned out to be gas.  Of course I was frantic because I could not get comfortable until my cousin suggested I try a heating pad and that did work.  For now I am doing good just recuperating and doing my liquid diet.  Before I started the liquid diet I was 292 lbs but when I weigh at the hospital I was 284 lbs so I will see how much I have lost when I see Dr. Dyer next Tuesday.

Hello people,

I hope everyone is doing well and if you are reading this, you are motivated to have your surgery.  I changed my surgery date to May 5, 2008 because my first surgery date was too close to my grandmother's birthday and I had so much to do.  So now I have about a month go now and I am getting a little excited.  I don't think I am looking forward to that clear liquid diet but i guess I will have to jump in on it.

December 18, 2007

Hello people,

It has been a while since I put anything here mostly because I was a little upset.  I found out at the end of November that I was approved for the bariatric surgery by my insurance company at 100% coverage, but I am not able to actually have my surgery until March 24, 2008. One of the doctors resigned and that left only one other doctor to do the surgeries and so I am having to wait until the end of March because of this.  I don't really have the time nor do I feel like going through the hassle of finding someone else who would do the surgery so I am waiting it out right now.  Of course it seems like it is taking forever but I guess I don't have a choice in the matter right now.

October 10, 2007

Hello people,

Well, I am now at the beginning of this new journey.  You know, the one where you have to wait for the insurance company to let you know if you were approved or not.  Tomorrow my information will be submitted and I will know probably next week if I was approved or not.  I have finished my 6 mos of diet and excercise through the Doctor's Diet Clinic and I guess I will just have to how this workd out for me.  I was a little frustrated today also because the Doctor's Diet Clinic never sent a support letter, which I was told they did,  but I don't care.  It will be submitted tomorrow with or without a support letter so keep me in your prayers.

September 8, 2007

Hello,

It's me again, I have the end of this month to do my last weigh in with the Doctor's Diet Clinic for my doctor documented diet and exercise and then my information will me be sent off for approval by my insurance company.  My cousin was approved at the by her insurance company over a week ago and she will be having the gastricy bypass done on October 31 which I am so excited for her.  I pray that the next time that I post here, I can tell you guys that I have been approved also.

August 10, 2007

Hello,

I have not been back here for a good while as you can see.  Well, first of all, I was so upset that I had given up on having my surgery.  The last time I posted here, my insurance had approved me for my surgery and I had been scoped and was positive for the H-pylori so I had to take the medicine for 2 weeks.  I had all my pre-op blood work done and only had to be scheduled for the surgery in January.  At the end of December 2006, I receive a letter from my job stating that my insurance would be changing at the beginning of January.  Well, that cancelled any surgery in January.  My insurance changed to Aetna which meant I had to do 6 months of doctor documented diet and excercise.  I was so upset that I just gave up on having the surgery.  I have gotten over being upset and I have done 2 months of my diet and excercise program and so I am back on track now.  If everything goes as planned, I should be having my surgery in December.  All your prayers are needed.

December 04, 2006

Well, on Dec. 6 I will be having my scope to make sure that I don't have a hiatal hernia and also to check for H-pyori.  If all of this is ok then I will ge getting my surgery date.  It seems like it is getting closer and closer.

November 26, 2006

When I first started this job last year, my insurance did not cover the bariatric surgery but I called on a whim and guess what, they lady told me that yes they do cover the bariatric sugery now as long as there is medical necessity.  I chose to go with Dr. Madan for personal reasons and I went through the consult and had my psychological and saw the dietician the same day.  They scheduled everything that I need to have done and thank God, we were able to schedule everything around my work time so I barely missed any work.  I have to say that they are very thorough, even the cardiologist that they referred me to because I had taken those phen pham diet pills some years ago, he was very thorough and was very concerned about why my regular doctor had not put me on hypertension medicine.  He explained to me that with my blood pressure that Hi, I would not be able to have surgery.  So I started taking my hypertension medicine along with my diabetes medicine faithfully.  After his recommendation I had everything done and they sent it all in to my insurance company.  I have GE Healthcare and I thought that the wait would be longer.  My biggest problem was GE Healthcare is a PHCS insurance so they never knew what was going on when I called them after about a week.  I called every week and finally they gave me the number to the lady who makes the decisions and she told me that the bariatric surgery was approved.  I have not gotten my surgery date yet because I know have be scoped to make sure that I don't have a Hiatal hernia and also they will take a sample from my stomach to make sure that I am not positive for the H-pylori.  I will say that Dr. Madan's office is very thorough.  I went to my first consult with surgeon at the begginning of October 2006 and now alomost everything is complete for surgery so I will be updating this as soon as I know my surgery date, which I am sure will be some time in December.

This is me in August when I weighed 289lbs, I am now 292 lbs as of my weigh-in at my doctors appointment in this month

I am now 42 years old and I work for a different company than I did when I first posted my profile.  I was then 265 lbs and now am 292 lbs.  I finally decided this year to try for the surgery.  I can tell you how I have always struggeld with my weight but never have I been this big, not even with my biggest pregnancy.  I am just like a lot of women, I need more energy so that I can feel better and I am now taking diabetes and high blood pressure medicine because of my weight problem.  I don't even breath well not like I used to and I can't stand it.  So now I have taken the necessary steps to have approval for my surgery.  I have opted to have the gastric bypass done.
