Newton-Wellesely
Jun 03, 2010
I went to Newton-Wellesely's orientation. It looks like a great program for RNY. I really liked Dr. Partridge and I am glad that it's a woman that does the surgery.I was struck when she said Obesity is a disease and should be treated as such. This was profound for me. My mother disagrees though and feels that Obesity is a choice. When we were talking about it she said she isn't overweight because she knows if she eats too much of a bad thing, she will gain weight. I said, well I know if I eat too much bad things, I will gain weight too but I can't control the quanitity.
Thats where I think the surgery will help. It will help my stomach tell my head ALL Done! I know there is a mental component but right now, it doesn't work in conjunction with my stomach I think the surgery will help me get it all together. I have lost weight before...A LOT of weight and have been at my goal but I was unable to maintain it because my stomach said I was starving to death.
If the beast is no longer egging me on, I think I stand a chance of losing and more importantly, maintaining the weight loss.
Next Tuesday, I go to Norwood Hospital to investigate the Lap Band procedure.
