5 Months Post-Op

Mar 04, 2011

Hello.  It's been awhile since I've been on here.  Well I am down 75 pounds as of 3/4/11 (surgery was 10/13/10) just under 5 months ago.  I feel great and I like what I see in the mirror for the most part.  My therapist told me that some people have a hard time seeing the thinner person in the mirror and I think that is what I am experiencing right now.  I am constantly being told how great I look and it feels nice to hear the compliments but I don't always feel like I deserve it.  My fiance has been really supportive of me lately and he keeps on commenting on how he can't believe how much I have lost.  I like what he has to say but it makes me wonder what would happen if something where to happen and the weight where to go back on.  Would he be disappointed, what would he say, how would he react?  This is the first time in our relationship we have ever talked about my body and my weight and I'm still kind of uncomfortable.  I don't know, guess I just needed to vent.  Anyways, the weight loss has been going good.  The first 60 pounds went really fast and now things are starting to slow up a bit.  I have started working out with kettle bells and I love it.  I also see immediate results in weight loss when I work out so it motivates me to keep moving forward.  The biggest thing that has held me accountable is recording my weight everyday.  It really keeps me focused.  That's all I have for now, take care.

I'm Approved!!

Oct 05, 2010

I received word from my surgeon that I have been approved and my surgery is scheduled in just 8 days (October 13th)!  I'm so excited.  I have heard many horror stories about insurance approvals and I am one of the lucky ones that didn't have any road blocks on my journey.  I can't wait to start my new life after surgery!

I can sleep!

As part of my WLS I had to go in for a sleep study to see if I have sleep apnea.  Turns out I do have a mild case; I wake up 39 times every hour (I wonder what severe is like).  So the doctor put me on a CPAP machine.  The tech told me it would take about a week to get use to.  It took me about 10 minutes and the first night I slept all night and actually woke up refreshed.  I have only had it 2 days and I can't believe the difference it has made.  I instantly have more energy and I am in a better mood throughout the day.  This is just one piece of the puzzle to overall good health and I can't wait to keep learning more and to achieve my goal of WLS!

My Journey is Beginning.......

Jul 23, 2010

I had my second appointment today with my psychologist.  I had to take 3 test and its amazing what the "computer" has to say about you based on what I find to be such random questions.  Well I did good and my doc said I am on the right path; she also said that based on my answers I will benefit from a support group.  I'm glad I discovered OH as one form of support.  So now I just have 2 more appointments with my doc; my last one being September 1st and then she will send my report onto the insurance company for approval.  I'm hoping to have an answer from insurance by October 31st and if so I will be right on track!  I CAN'T WAIT!
