Jennefer A. Kieran

"I met with Dr Kieran for the first time on Fri. April 14, 2006. She and her clinic which does both lap bands and bypasses, think I should have the bypass done. I had first thought bypass and then in WA when I met with Dr. Montgomery (who my primary dr sent me to) he said lap band, because that is all he does. So I had my mind made up for the lap...Now I have to revise my thinking and research the differences between both. Dr Kieran said it is my final choice, but because my BMI (57.2) combined with diabetes said that the bypass is a better option. I resented the fact that she would like for me to change my mind, but then I think she has nothing to gain or lose, she'll do either so maybe it IS my best interest she has in mind. After care they want to see you once a month for life. Sounds a little much, but hey if they are willing that is GOOD. OF course she explained the risks of both surgerys and insisted that before I make a decision to go to their support group that has both surgery patients in it to see what they said. They have 3 or 4 support groups that meet monthly and a chat-room for online use. Dr Kieran has an excellent bedside manner, very friendly and happy. I had to talk to a woman who was helpful and pleasant but had a very loud boistrous voice so I know the whole waiting room heard her tell me everything I need to do before next week, including getting a stool sample. That was uncomfortable...I wanted to shush her. And of course this is just my perception, maybe everything was loud in my head after 3 hours of meeting with people and psych testing. But I really have no hard complaints about the Scottsdale Bariatric Clinic. There were lots of smiles, some strong handshakes and a few weak ones. Everyone seemed to be very helpful. And I think I'll be very happy. "
