POH Medical Center

"The staff in OR were great. While on the floor I received better care from the nurse aids than I did the nurses, and I'm a nurse. The staff acted like they had never heard of this surgery before, when I would tell them why I was there they would have this blank look on their face. So I would tell them about VSG. They were slow to respond to request for pain med. My breakfast tray that was to be delivered on my first post-op day arrived at 10:30 after repeated request by my family. I wanted to drink so I could be discharged since this is a prerequisite. They do not room patients as they should, my first roomate had mental problems and thankfully signed out AMA. So after she left they decided I was getting another roomate and preceded to clean the room at 2:00 am. They never arrived. The next am they put a Pneumonia patient in the room with me. As you know that is a no-no, you never put anything like that in with a fresh surgery patient. A nurse aid NOT NURSE caught the mistake and told the nurses. They moved that patient. At that time I did not care because I was getting out of there. I do not want to scare anyone away from having there VSG, just be sure to take a very outspoken family member or friend with you. With all I have said I am still happy with my surgery and would do it all over again. "

Mark Pleatman

"Dr. Pleatman was very professional and informative. I was happy with the decision I made. He talked to me regarding risk and post -op. He never made me feel rushed or that he was to busy to talk. I live in KY so after care was not an issue for me. I will follow up with my PCP. I would rate him a 10 out of 10."
