New Year... New Beginning

Jan 15, 2014

Today I woke up with the idea to start a blog capturing my progress and struggles that come with getting the lap band. I've watched tons of youtube videos, read "banders" blogs, and spoke with people who have overcome their weight by way of the band and thought why not add my experience to the community?!?!

So... to start things off, allow me to give you a little insight to my life. My name is Jennifer and I am 25 years old. I have struggled with weight my entire life and cannot remember the last time I looked in a mirror and gave myself a little wink and "How you doin'..." pep talk. I have always been heavy but when I decided to leave home and live the "big girl" life, my weight started climbing drastically and all the burdens and emotions of being fat really hit home.

Toward the end of October 2013 I began looking into weight loss solutions. I searched the web looking for the miracle pill or diet plan that would melt the pounds...making me the lean, mean, sexy machine I always wanted. I researched solutions ranging from Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers to thinking I was hardcore enough for a little P90X (which, come to find out is the workout for Satan himself). Nothing I looked into made me feel I could defeat my weight problem so I started researching a more drastic approach with the idea of having the lap band surgery.

After weeks of determining if the lap band was truly what I wanted, I found Dr. Hollis and the True Results team. I spoke with several advocates and came to the conclusion that if I wanted to live a long and exciting life I needed to get myself in gear pronto and stop making excuses. With the help of family and friends I made the brave decision to be banded for the new year! ...And I must say, I am beyond excited to see what life will bring my way as I transform into the beautiful person I know is under my skin!
