Super Fun Endoscopy

Apr 10, 2010

So, I had my endoscopy yesterday and was SOOOO thankful that they gave me a heavy sedative to knock me out! Ends up my scar tissue has closed up the opening into my intestine to about the width of a coffee stirrer straw!! They showed me pictures and everything. No wonder I can't keep food down!! Geez man. Unfortunately, they can't stretch it out to the width it needs to be in one sitting, so I'll have to go 2-4 more times to keep having it dialated every 7-10 days. As long as I don't have to be awake for it, I don't care. Hopefully I'll be able to eat normally again really soon! Glad to know that it wasn't something that I did wrong!!

Finally...

Mar 30, 2010

My endoscopic procedure to stretch out my intestinal opening is scheduled for April 9th. I'm not looking forward to it, but I need to be able to eat! Yogurt and cheese is great and all, but dang, when you eat it every single meal it gets old fast. I sure hope this works!!!

A Little Hump in the Road

Mar 27, 2010

It's close to 2 months now since my surgery and for the past 3 weeks, I've been throwing up almost everyday. First the surgeons' office thought something was stuck, so I had to drink meat tenderizer and go on a liquid diet twice. Now, they think that things are too tight and they need to stretch the opening into my intestine because food isn't passing through. I end up barfing at least 50% of my meals...with the exception of yogurt and cheese which I seem to be able to tolerate okay. It's SO frustrating and I've been waiting days for the G.I. Dr. to call me and get on with whatever they need to do. The positive is that the pounds are coming off pretty quick. 43 lbs. since Feb. 3rd ain't bad!!

TOMORROW

Feb 01, 2010

I can't believe my surgery is TOMORROW already!!! The time just flew. I'm scared, but it's almost like I'm going into auto pilot so I don't think about it too much. NOT looking forward to drinking all that crap for the colon cleanse today. Yucky!! It's a little overwhelming to think that I have a second chance at life in less than 24 hours. Wow.

Blah...

Jan 27, 2010

I've had a little cold the last few days and feeling a little blah. It kind of sucks that I only have a week of eating normal food left for awhile and now I can't taste anything. Poo poo  It seems like all my friends want to go out, or invite me over for a last meal. My friends are SO excited for me. I can't wait to keep up with them again!!

I had my Will legalized today. It felt REALLY weird going over all those details, and kind of puts into perspective how fragile life really is. Not that I think anything will go wrong with my surgery, but you never know what can happen day to day and just in case, I want my wishes known.

One week to go exactly. Wow...time is FLYING!!

Pre-Op tomorrow

Jan 21, 2010

Tomorrow morning is my pre-op appointment at the hospital and then I meet with my surgeon. I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure it will all go okay. I can't believe how fast Feb. 3rd is coming! I started to tell people more openly now. Almost everyone have been nothing but encouraging and supportive. I'm looking forward to a new start at life!!
