Hi.  I'm like many of the people on this site, I imagine.  I've struggled with my weight since childhood.  You name a diet and chances are I've tried it.  I've lost big (as much as 75 lbs.) and often, only to gain it all back again.

It's gotten to the point where I'm heavier than I've ever been (237 lbs.), I've been diagnosed with borderline diabetes, and I live with constant back pain.  I knew I had to do something I hadn't tried before if I wanted to lose the weight.  So I began looking in to weight loss surgery.

My journey began in October 2012 when I met with my surgeon for the first time.  Since then, there have been months of medical tests in preparation for surgery.  I heard just this week that my roux-en-y operation will take place this month.  I don't have the date yet, but I expect to at any time.  I can't wait.  I'm ready to take this on.

The twist in my story?  I'm an American living in the Middle East.
