My weight has been up and down all my life. I've had two total knee replacements, one at age 52 and the other at age 54. After my older brothers were diagnosed with diabetes I decided it was time to take care of myself. So, on 18 Nov 2008, I had RNY by Dr. Bacal at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI, exactly one week before I turned 58-years-old. Fortunately, there were no major complications and my recovery went well.
I have two grown sons and two most beautiful grandsons, ages 6 and 4. They are the most wonderful treasures in my life and I want to see them grow up and be in good health while doing so! Like everyone has said, this surgery is the best thing I could do for myself. I feel I am very blessed and thankful that I have been given this chance to "recreate" myself with a new lease on life.
