There are so many things that occur and I don't realize just how significant they really are, for example, I no longer have to use a seatbelt extension. How huge is that? I really didn't think much about it. Then yesterday I got to clearing out piles of paper while hunting for something, and came across a measurement chart from an old diet I was on back in 2002, just out of curiosity I got out the measuring tape, and lo and behold I am now a total of 16 1/2 inches smaller (around, not shorter LOL) than I was 5 years ago! Fantastic! I look in the mirror, my face is deffinately thinner, even if I have a turkey neck, but I still don't really feel thinner. I know that I am, because when I sit in the pew at church my stomach doesn't touch the pew in front of me, I had an appointment at the eye surgeon on Monday, and I fit in the chair comfortably, I used to sit on the very edge, because I was afraid I'd get stuck. So many things have changed and I fail to appreciate them, I need to start counting my blessings, guess I should start journaling, or at least make a list of the blessings big or small.

Praise God! I finally worked up the courge to try and sit in a booth at a
restaurant. I was freaking out, because I didn't want to embaress my self in
front of a packed restaurant, and lo and behold I FIT! I can't remember the last time I sat in a booth, probably 5 or 6 years! This is going to be such a
wonderful year, I'm looking forward to being able to fit comfortably into a seat
in a theater, being able to walk around the block without using a walker, going
shopping without using an electric cart, and other things that I haven't even thought about yet! Every thing is going to be devine in 2009!
I'm down 133 lbs. I've been loosing 3 or 4 lbs a week, but gaining them back
the next week. So I'm trying to cut out all carbs, hopefully tat will get me
loosing again. I am feeling stronger, I'm getting around better, as a matter of fact I left the house last week without my crutch, and didn't even realize it
untill I got home, I used an electric cart while shopping, and when we got home,
I was looking for my crutch in the back seat, but couldn't find it. HEE HEE.
It's no fun getting old and forgetful, but sometimes it works out for the best!

It's been 5 months since surgery and I've lost 123 lbs. I'm looking forward to the day when I can say that I've reached my ideal weight. I find it hard to think of myself as being thinner, I am thinking of trying to sit in a booth at a restaurant, but I'm kind of affraid to try. It will be so humiliating if I don't fit, but it will definately be a WOW moment if I do.
Thanksgiving is only 4 days from now. I'm going to try eating what I really like and pass on the rest of the stuff, although it will be hard to stick to mostly protien, that would limit my choice to turkey, and I'm not really all that fond of turkey. I am going to stick to only eating a spoonful of each dish.
My great nephew Nathaniel, died a few hours after birth. His funeral is this Wednesday, that will make for a very sad Thanksgiving, but then it also makes me appreciate the rest of my family. I need to let them all know how much I love and value them, life is short, with no guarantees. This year I will definately be thanking God for all of his blessings, past, present and future, and that includes family, even the ones I find it hard to like.

I got on the scale yeaterday, and I've lost another 7 lbs, for a grand total of 106 (since 2 wk pre-op diet.)
COOL! I am so happy, I still can't believe it.
Another Good thing happened this week, I have been driving since Tuesday, it has been 3 years since I last drove. PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!!!!!!!
I don't plan on hanging around the house, as long as I can put gas in the van.

As of this morning I have lost 99 lbs.
I can really tell that the weight is coming off, but the arthritis is hurting something awfull, every joint hurts, I don't know if this is normal, but if it doesn't improve shortly, I'm gonna have to visit the Dr.

I finally bought a scale, when I got up enough courage to actually get on it, I discovered that I'd lost a total of 81Lbs. since June. I'm really looking forward to loosing the next 19 lbs., that will be awesome!
I have been feeling really great, now I can even walk short distances with out a crutch or a walker, PRAISE GOD!
I'm starting to loose my hair, (especially on the right side for some strange reason) can't decide if I should get a wig or go bald and beautiful! I'll have to think on that one, the world might not be ready to see that! ; < )

Went to Dr. Kerlakian's for my 6 week checkup, I lost another 7 Lbs, for a grand total of 63 Lbs. Must admit I was slightly disapointed, I had hoped to loose another 20 Lbs., however I am just happy to have lost more weight. Maybe I need to change what I'm eating and get more variety, I am getting really tired of chicken every day!
I need to start exercising and walking daily, also I need to get more liquids in, seems like I just can't fit that much liquid in, which is strange, since I always drank a pot of tea every morning before surgery, now I really don't have a desire for tea or any other liquid either. I should get myself to the support group meetings, maybe that will help.

I lost 36 lbs before surgery. I had the SLEEVE, it's been one week since surgery, everything went well, the only problem is that I now have an
infection with lots of drainage, hopefully antibiotics will clear that up,
I had to pay cash, because my insurance co. does not cover weight loss surgery. Thank God we had a 401k to dip into,
I would apprecate any helpful hints you would care to give.
I'd really like to hear from anyone who has had VSG surgery.
