Hello all... I am 18 weeks post op. I started at 295 and as of today, I weighed in at 213!!! 82 lbs gone forever. I can hardly believe it!!! I wanted to reach my goal of 200 before August which I think I can do. My goal weight is about 140...so at about 160 I can consider a TT if I need it,(and repair of a hernia I found last week). I know that 80 lbs is a huge amount of weight to lose in only 4 months and I can really see a big difference. I have gone from a 26/28 (about 3X) to a comfortable 20 and can wear X-Large from regular stores like OLD NAVY. I cannot belive I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!! I am so greatful to have been given this gift.

It took me a while but I think I have finally learned to eat small, slow portions and get in all my water...still having trouble getting the protein though. I will tell you I had no complications but I was throwing up a lot. I am so greatful this finally past. I feel so good I can't believe it!!! Good luck to evryone pre-op and remember one day at a time!!!!!!! (((((HUGS TO ALL)))))

hi all...i just wanted to say that i had my 2 week post op check up yesterday and i have lost 18 lbs!!!!!!! he said my incision looks good. i still get tired very easily and i am fighting off a sinus infection. the smallest chore makes me want to take a nap. he reminded me this was major surgery (open RNY) and he told me to take it slow. other than that i feel pretty good.

Hi everyone. I am home. I wanted to say thank you so much to evryone for their kind thoughts, words, cards & flowers and a special big thank you to my 3 angels Tracey, Joanna & Deanna. Well, I had the surgery on Tuesday...I don't remeber too much. I slept for only 10 minutes at a time that night and kept thinking "WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF?????". The initials RNY kept ringing in my head. I asked for a sedative and they wrote a standing order for ativan which I could have every 12 hours if I asked for it...and I did. Wednesday mu hubby brought my boys to see me and aI sent them home...I felt so awful I didnt want them to see me like that. Thursday night I finally got a good nights sleep and felt much better. I kept thinking of all the posts I had read about how some people seem to breeze through it and others have a rough time. I had the "poor me's" something awful for the first 2 days, and boy was I SORE, but believe me when I tell you with every day that passes I feel better and greatful for my decision. Would I do it again? If I lose the weight, then it will have been woth it and I would say yes! Only time will tell. For all you pre-ops, my best advise is one day at a time! Love to all, I am off to nap in MY OWN BED.

What an angel I've been!! Sorry, I've had another week of sick children and finally just spoke to Kathleen :)She's doing very good! She said the first 2 days were rough, not in a painful way - she said she was basically sore and sleeps on her side and couldn't. Last night she finally had a good night's sleep and is expecting to go home tomorrow. Her roommate had the surgery on Monday so it sounds like she has had alot in common there :) Post her a message and let her know we're all thinking about her! :) ~Johanna - gastric bypass scheduled 3/13/01~
