I have struggled with my weight from a very young age. In my youth I stay very active through sports, family and school activities so my weight maintained but was never in a healthy range. When I graduated from high school I went to pursue a career in the culinary field in San Francisco. Being on my own with no family accountability I was able to explore all the great offerings of a large city, since I was from a small town. I maintained an average weight of about 220 to 240 pounds, this was still in the unhealthy range, but I didn't feel any problems from the excess weight. After college I moved back to my home town and proceeded with my culinary career. I then started to balloon in my weight. I played the up and down weight loss game for many years.

After my daughter was born in 2006 I gained a very significant amount of weight and was for the first time above 300 pounds. I was now starting to notice a great amount of fatigue from the weight and it affected my everyday life drastically. I soon began a workout and diet regiment that lasted about a year. I lost about 40 pounds and was maintaining around 260 to 270 pounds. Unfortunate circumstances fell upon me and my family which I fell into a depression and gained even more weight back. I was now at a 325 staggering weight.

I am still at the 320ish pound mark and have been experiencing horrible health problems because of my weight and lack of exercise. I am now so heavy and out of shape that it actually hurts to do much activity other than walking from point A to point B. I have researched the possibility of WLS and all its pros and cons. I have had friends and family that have gone through the RNY and Lap Band surgeries with great success. My biggest deterrent lately since I have made up my mind about getting the surgery done is not having insurance and being out of work and in school full time. I am hopefully going to get a full time job soon with great insurance so that I can get the surgery and live my life the way I should.
