3 months post op - woot woot!

Apr 19, 2012

Ok, so today I had my 3 month post op check up.  He comes in as happy as usual and was like, good morning beautiful...it helps he's gorgeous too!

But, just to keep you posted...58.5 lbs lost since surgery - and off all BP meds!  I can't explain how good that feels to be off medication...i'm actually off ALL medication, except vitamins!  I feel fabulous and wouldnt have it any other way!

I went in, and told the nurse about the dizzy spells i'd get when standing up, well, my BP was 102/54 - she said, yep, it's time to get off those! YAYAYAYAYAY

Thanks for listening...as usual :)

5 weeks post op and down 27lbs

Feb 21, 2012

Yep, 27lbs down since the day of surgery.  it's pretty amazing, I cant say that I feel good yet, I did have a couple complications, most of all right now, I'm always tired and the pain under my left side rib cage is still there, but I'm back to work and back to walking.  Eating is definitely a chore, i'm never hungry and sometimes eat because my hands start shaking.  But all in all, I am doing spiffy.  Thanks for listening :)

It's Crunch Time :):):)

Jan 13, 2012

so, It's 4 days from surgery, i've been on the liquid protein diet and have lost 9lbs so far, AMAZING!!!  Seriously, it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Yeah, sometimes I feel the need to eat something, but it's not so much eat something, I want to taste it.  So, Instead of tasting...I drink more water...seems to work for now.  After Tuesday, we shall see how i'm doing!

1 more week. Yeehaw!

Jan 09, 2012

down to the wire now!  1 more week to go and day 2 of my liquid diet.  It's really not so bad, when i feel like I want to eat, I just drink more water.  When i want to chew something, I have a stick of gum.  And who knew...the chicken soup flavored unjury has to be my favorite right now, it tastes like noodle soup without the noodles.  I thought the strawberry was my fav, and it is as far as shakes go, but the soup...it feels more like i'm eating something. So, I can do this!

15 more days...

Jan 02, 2012

and the count down begins.  15 more days til my life is changed for the better.  I'm super excited for the new me, but nervous for the new me as well. I've never been thin, I weighed 172lbs when i was in 7th grade, and 252 when i graduated highschool, and that seems to be where i've stayed.  Super Super excited!!!

I think the most thing that is making me nervous, is the 9day pre-op diet.  I WILL stick to my guns...just shut myself out from the world for 9 days, lol.  Leave all temptation out of sight, I'm doing so well, I will continue, I know I can!

Hello Hello...happy times

Nov 02, 2011

so, after all this planning and numerous doctor visits...finally...sent paperwork to insurance company and they approved after first letter!!!  I was half expecting to not be approved at all until numerous battles and appeals!  Totally Made my day!  Now, let the nerves settle in.

Prior to sending in paperwork, I had to have an endoscopy, being that I have GERD, and have for several year, they thought, since it'd been so long since the last one, they might just want to take a look.  Turns out, not only do I have GERD, I have progressed to Barrett's Esophagus.  It seems to be hereditary/genetic, as my brother has it too and he's not at all overweight.  I am hoping that with surgery, the weight loss will be significant enough that the symptoms will go away to prevent another surgery.

Nerves...YES, happy, YES - will i let this deter me, NOOOOOO!!  Bring it on!  I'm excited to have my new life in order!

The Beginning...

Aug 04, 2011

Well, That's right, I'm finally doing it.  After years of thinking about weight loss surgery, and numerous failed diet attempts, I've decided, weight loss surgery is not taking the easy way out, it's a TOOL to help me lose weight.  Anyone who says it's the easy way out, is out of their brains, lol.  Yes, it's taken men a few years to realize that it's not the easy way, and what I've been doing before is also, not easy.  I need something more.

Initial consultation is done, and upon that consultation, I decided that the Lapband would be right for me. That is, until i've read about the vertical sleeve.  now, I'm going back and forth between the 2 options.  Both have benefits and cons.  Another thing, my insurance right now considers the sleeve experimental, which is a total bummer, you think they'd be thrilled not to have to cover visits for band adjustments.  But anyway, I digress, I think I may switch my surgery in which, then i'll probably have to send an appeal to my insurance company on why we believe the sleeve is a better solution.

I already walk 3-4 miles a day and have started to do some weight lifting, I would do more if I didnt have the fear of people watching me.  I'd like to do more hiking eventually too.  with the weight i'm at now.  I'm just not comfortable.
