In the beginning

My previous family doctor was very negative to any medical or surgical weight loss assistance His words were, "its very simple, eat less and exercise more. Then he asked me to bring in a food log of 4 weeks which when he reviewed his response was, "you are not eating enough" so appetite supressents are not going to help. I never got a chance to even suggest WLS.  

Fast forward two years and 15 lbs of further weight gain.  I had an appointment with my new family Doctor on Feb 19 and due to my previous family doctor being very negative I really didn't have much hope. I told him how much pain I was in exercising and how much my weight is of concern for me. My blood pressure was out of control. He asked me what I wanted and I said your advice... What can be offered for me to help me lose weight?  MIracle of all miracles he told me that yes once morbidly obese it is very difficult to lose the weight without assistance and he would be happy to refer me to a weight loss assessment centre for WLS. I just about cried! 

So my referral was sent to the Ottawa Assessment centre and I wait... and wait... and wait.
