NSV new pant size

Oct 07, 2008

Today I decided to try on two different size pants and to my amazement I can now fit a size........8 I don't ever remember a time that I was in single digit sizes. Of course, I was hard on myself thinking they looked too tight but I asked the dressing room attendant and she said they looked fine maybe needs to be a little bit longer. Shoot, that was all I heard was they look fine and of course, I bought them.
I love my lap band !!!!

OMG today i went on the scale and it read......... 172.5lbs. that means I offically have lost one hundreds pounds. WOW. I can't believe it but I am truly happy. I have been working it out in the Gym and parking farther from my jobs entrance. I haven't yet adopted the idea of taking the stairs, I work on the fifth floor with a blocked floor between levels so it's actually six flights of stairs. My next goal to tackle. This band truly works if you work the tool. I have a 4cc Inamed Lapband with 3.2cc filled. I have resistance most times and probably open in the late evening. Soups have become my new best friend when it comes to eating. I have no problems getting that down. My episodes, what i call it when food is stuck, occurs when I haven't chewed the food enough or it's something doughy like breads, donuts, rice etc. I do get to eat the things I like but it just takes longer. I'm so pleased I chose this option after trying for many years with success then failure because the weight always returned. I'm confident with my tool this will be a successful end to my battle of the buldge.

It's FINALLY here after 18 months post-op I have reached my goal of 175 Lbs. The scale actually read 174.5 lbs which means I have lost a total of 98 Lbs. 2 more pounds to the century club !!!! I can totally fit into size ten pants and twelve dress depending of style and cut a size 10. I can't believe that I'm writing those sizes to describe me. I feel so much better now. I opt for walking more than driving locally. I've joined the Gym on campus. I plan to attend Carnival in Trinidad 2009 and play Mas so you know the skimpy outfits will be in effect. Planning to tone up more and maybe loose 9Lbs. more.

I am now  3 months post op. I am pleased with my results. I now weigh 220lbs that is minus 52 lbs. total  and 32lbs. from surgery date. I had my second fill of 2.0mls 6/18/07. I can now fit size 14/16. I work out an average of 2-5x per week depending on my energy level. I am going to  start water aerobics for the summer and do some weight training b/c I've notice the skin under my arms and between my thighs beginning to sag. Overall, I am happy I began this journey and only wished I did it earlier.

The Quest begins 2005

Today is my 32nd b-day. Wow, what a feeling!! I remember at age 12 imagining what life will be like when I am 30-something. Now, reality is here and I must say I am truly BLESSED!!! I have life #1 and beautiful, intelligent, thriving soon to be 7 y.o. daughter and DH of 10 1/2yrs. I work in a career I always dreamed of obtaining. I have a vision to further my career. I am in contract to purchase my first home it has most everything I've wanted in a house. So everything seems positive and upward bound. My battle with my weight has been the main struggle of my life. Five years ago I vowed to change my attitude toward weight and exercise. Before Thanksgiving 2000, I began walking the beach front which was 2 miles. I was determined and dedicated. This continued through the holidays. January 2001, I began the Mayo clinic diet which is very similar to the Atkins diet. I did this diet for one month and lost ten pounds. Febuary 2001, I began the Richard Simmons "deal -a -meal program" with work out videos.During that time I worked 2nd shift and would come home and do 30min workout at midnight. With such commitment the weight did come off slowly over 4 yrs. When I started this diet and exercise regimen I wore 2XL scrubs and as of last year 2004 I wore medium to large scrubs. My highest weight in Nov. 2000 was 280.5 lbs.and my lowest weight Aug. 2004 was 202.3lbs. Total 78.2 pounds lost over four year period. My clothes sizes went from 22/24 to size 12. I was extremely happy to meet my goal of fitting  into size 12 pants. Unfortunately, the my weight never went below 202lbs.
Now, the weight is packing back on . It amazes me it 4 yrs to loose and seven months to be 20 pounds away from starting point. It disappointing, frustrating, and sometimes I feel hopeless. I feel at times, that i'm destined to be FAT other times, I can't accept being FAT. It doesn't feel like the authentic me I know is there.
This is what leads me to investigate ways to loose and keep the weight off. WLS is the answer for me. I heard about the Lap-Band on our local news some few years back, I thought to myself this might be something for me.
There is no re-routing of my intestines, it's reversible, and a controlled weight loss method. While the weight loss isn't as rapid as the gastric by-pass its is slower rate and gives me time to adjust to my new pouch, mind and body.
I had a conversation with my sister who also struggles with excessive weight and we attended the informational seminar. EXCITING!!! They talked about the different procedures Dr. Valin performs for WLS. He and his wife spoke as well as Diana the nutritionist. The pysch guy chris wasn't at the seminar but you must meet with all before obtaining a surgery date.
Then the BIG DROP!!! .....Anthem BC/BS no longer pays for Lap-Band procedure. OH sugar, honey, ice, tea !!! Now what??????
They did mention paying out of pocket. The total price is between $10,000 -$16,000 with istallment payments. Well, I would spend $20,000 and greater for a vehicle why not invest in my future health. I posted my question to the WLS community message boards. They are so supportive they told me to continue with the process. They knew people who after appealling denial was approved for surgery. So, I have an appointment Apr. 18 @ 11 am. I'll keep praying.
