Kim,
You are the only person who can decide for you if you want to have this surgery. I had to ponder for almost a year, and that was with the aid of being able to personally watch my surgeon and her patients. I just decided I couldn't live like this anymore, I hurt so much when I come home from 12 hour shifts at work that I can barely walk. I'm short of breath climbing the stairs to go to bed, I hate to get dressed because I hate the way I look in clothes. (LOL! not for you to get the impression that I look good WITHOUT them!!!) The surgery is risky, that is for sure. All surgery is when you are morbidly obese, and especially when you have sleep apnea the immediate recovery is a little tricky when coupled with the anesthesia drugs and the post op pain drugs. But YOU are the one to decide if the risks outweigh the benefits and what is right for you. I would suggest looking at surgeons around your area who perform bariatric surgery, and see if there are local support groups available. The comfort of flesh and blood people, as well as the cybergroup here will go a long way to making you comfortable. Good luck to you. Charlene
