Back again

Jun 11, 2011

It has been quite some time since I have posted anything here. I am down 52 lbs since surgery on March 29th and down 104 lbs since October, 2010. It has been a rough two weeks, I lost my Dad on May 30th in Connecticut but most everything is getting back to normal (whatever normal is). Over all life is good, still losing weight and getting moving. My RNY is still the second best decision that i ever made.

The journey continues

Apr 30, 2011

I have not been on here for a while but wanted to post an update. It is just ovr a month since surgery and all s going well. Down 29 lbs. since March 29th and down 80 lbs. since October of 2010 when I me the suregon for the first time. Life is great and new energy makes each day seem brighter. It will happen if you make the choice to work the program, this is a life change not another diet.Work like no one else and then you can live like no one else.

Still moving forward

Apr 12, 2011

It is now 2 & 1/2 weeks since surgery and I am blessed. I am driving, working on geting my water &calories in each day. It is warming up outside here in Michigan and life is great. My wife has been having some challenges with tolerating some foods as she moves to soft regular foods and some vitamin tolerance. There are challenges but this is the best single set of changes that I have ever made since getting married. I am feeling liberated each day as I am able to walk easier, roll over in bed without prior planning. I can not wait to see what comes next. There will be frustrations to come but nothing worthwhile in life is without sacrifices.

Another day closer to the rest of my life

Mar 21, 2011

I just got back from the gym with my wife and with 7 days until surgery I am getting down to "fighting weight".  I have gone from 400lbs in October to 356 tonight, all this before surgery.

I am waiting until i can actually chew something again, something with spice and real taste (curry, paprika, pepper, etc.). Liquid diets are necessary but oh so tedious while you are facing down multiple protein shakes per day. I am so done with creamy chocolate shakes.

This is just the beginning of a healthier me.

Another day closer to whatever

Mar 19, 2011

Today is a great day, my wife who had her surgery on March 8th is doing great and the weight is dropping off well.

As my surgery is scheduled for March 29th I am doing my liquid diet. I can truthfully say that I never thought that would be tired of choclate shakes. Walking with my wife has alowed me to get down to 361 from 400 backk in October. I can not wait to get in and get the surgery done to get on with healing and losing.

And so it begins in earnest . . .

Mar 13, 2011

Here it is 3/13/2011 and in just over two weeks I will be gaving my surgery. It has taken so long to get here that it almost seems surreal. It has been 10 months since I atended the seminar and started the process of research and herding the kittens necessary to get approval and prepared for surgery. Tomorrow is my pre-op testing (Upper GI, chest x-ray, EKG, & blood work), Tuesday I will start week 1 of my liquid diet, Wednesday is the pre-op meeting with the surgeon. Next Tuesday is my Pre-op meeting with the dietitian and then the 29th is check in and off to surgery.

it is exciting anc scary at the same time. In the meantime it will be off to the gym again tonight for my hour on the treadmill and then some weight lifing.
