I have had a weight problem for almost all of my life. As a teenager, my brother used to tell me that when I rode my bike, I looked like a Harley Davidson with saddlebags. WOW, the things you remember.
I joined the military right out of high school and lost a lot of weight during my training. When I got pregnat with my daughter, I gained 75 lbs . The day I delivered her (24 years ago) I weighed 200 lbs. I couldn't imagine that I would ever get the weight off. After serving my country and coming home, I tried every possible diet out there.
I joined weight watchers, I became a lifetime member of Jenny Craig, I tried every over the counter drug out there. I also used Redux, and FenPhen. When I was on the FenPhen, I lost 87 lbs. I felt great. I kept the weight off for about a year. Then slowly but surely, it came back plus some. I joined LA Weightloss and lost 46 lbs and then gained that plus back. I am currently 250 lbs.
I met with Dr. Burch and he explained everything to me and gave me the option of deciding which surgery I thought I would prefer. After extensive research and after speaking with him, I have decided to go with the Gastric Bypass (Laproscopic) Surgery.
When I got my packet, I started doing things that I knew I would have to do before the surgery. I went to my primary care and got a prescription for Chantix to help me quit smoking, I started walking and have lost about 7 lbs. I have already had my first appointment where all my bloods were drawn, EKG, Sleep Study, Abd. Ultrasound and Chest X-Rays.
My next appointment is with Dr. Istfan. I will be seeing him on 6/21/07. Then I will be seeing the Dietician after that. Once this gets underway, hopefully I will have an appointment with Dr. Perna (phscho) for my MMPI. I am looking forward to the day when I can say "I have a surgery date"
