I am 44 yrs old, married with one daughter, 22. My husband and I love to go to DisneyWorld for vacation, but the last trip he had to push me in a wheelchair just so I could make it around the parks. I hurt all the time now, my feet, back, knees. I can't stand being this fat anymore. I want a real life.

NEWEST UPDATE STARTS HERE:

December 4, 2007 - 4 years ago I had my WLS in Mexico.  The best thing I ever did for myself.  I started at 289.5 lbs, now I am 145 lbs.  I lost 130 lbs in 18 months, then maintained it until 2 months ago, and started losing again.  I lost 15 more pounds.  I would tell anyone that is considering the surgery, to study all you can and learn everything there is to know, but do it if this is something you want.

April 26, 2005, Next week is 17 months out from surgery and I have lost 117 pounds. I'm losing very slowly, but the fact is that I am still losing. Even if I don't lose one more pound, I am thouroughly thrilled with my weight loss. As I've said before, I now have a life and can live it without the pain.

My husband and I went to a local botanical gardens and I was able to walk around for 3 hours. Before the surgery I could only walk around for maybe 30 minutes before the pain in my back, knees and feet would make me have to sit down for quite a long time. It was miserable. This time when we went, I didn't even think about how long I was walking around, until we were heading home.

To anyone considering this surgery, or considering going to Mexico (specifically Dr. Aguirre) I say, JUST DO IT. You will not believe the difference that it will make in your life.

January 21, 2005, I'm 13 1/2 months out from surgery and have lost 105 pounds. This is absolutely the best decision I've every made. I feel like I actually have a life now. Thank you so much Dr. Aguirre.

February 26, 2004, today's weigh-in shows another 3 pound loss and that takes me past my first goal. I am now under 250 pounds. Look out goals 1,2 and 3, here I come.

January 27th, into my 8th week and feel great. Last week was great also, but the two weeks prior to that (wks 5&6) I couldn't make it the whole day/week at work. So working a whole week last week and this one feels wonderful. I am starting to feel normal and not ALWAYS remebering I'm a WLS patient. So any recent post-ops, hang in there, the energy does come back.

December 31, things still going good, except the weight loss is low this week. I still have fatigue if I eat too much or too fast. I still have the "head munchies" at night. Very difficult to deal with. Physically I am feeling better each day. Little twinges in my scar, but that is about all the pain. I am being very careful not to lift anything heavy, so I think that helps.

December 24, things are going great. Food is going down good, with only a few times that I get the stuck feeling. Sometimes I eat too fast or something too heavy and it drains all my energy. I have to nap for awhile to get the energy back. But overall, I think I am doing great. I drank the protein mix for a few days but now I can't stand the tast. I am ordering the Nectar online and will give that a try. I love my Crystal Light, and drink it all day. If the Nectar tasts as good then it will not be a probelm getting in all of my protein. I will post when I get my order in the mail. Merry Christmas and a losing New Year to all.

December 10, got home yesterday, and feel better each day. I will update later with all my experiences so far.

August 26, 3 months, 9 days, 2 hours to go. Today, I am beginning the paperwork for the funding of my surgery and trip. I feel good about my decision and will just need patience to wait for it to get here.

August 10, 2003 - Dr. A just confirmed that my surgery is rescheduled to December 4, 2003. YooHoo!!!! This is a real blessing for me. The others on this board are so great. YoMaria contacted me with a possiblility of a new date. Now to wait.

July 18, 2003 - spoke with Dr. Aguillar for the first time, and set a surgery date for December 10, 2003. I am so excited to finally have a date. I feel a peace about each step I have taken along the way. My husband has been a wonderful support in this all. We even cancelled our "big" vacation planned for this year so we could afford to self-pay for the surgery. I didn't even have to ask him, he volunteered and said that this is more important than anything else and will tak top priority until it is paid for. He keeps reminding me that all he is concerned about is my health and that we will have a long happy life together.
