The beginning

Well,

Its a Sunday afternoon and I just dropped my husband off to go to California for two months on business...I am definately bummed, but thought I could catch up on stuff and let you all know a little about me...

I am 25 (as of Tuesday), and have been obese all of my life.  One time in highschool I was 175 lbs, but was anorexic and in denial.  I exercized about 4 hours a day and was in great shape, but that all changed when I went to college.  In college i was able to exercise, but only about and hour a day because of school...the weight packed on really quickly.  Anyway, since 2000, I've gained over 100 lbs and am just sick of what I have become.  I love to exercise, but when I don't see any results I get just terribly depressed.

At the beginning of summer, my weight issue just hit me.  My dad was going in for shoulder replacement, and he brought their dogs over to my house to be cared for (you will see Jake's picture in my profile). My dad said that he and my mom were concerned for me, and if I got below 200lbs he would buy me a massage chair (we aren't talking the massage chairs you get at Bed Bath and Beyond, we're talking a $6,000 chair.  So, even though weight loss should be motivation itself, the chair doesn't hurt.

I have been looking into the lapband since my dad talked with me, so I've been reading all of your posts!

I have visited New U (the bariatric center 1 hour away), and have submitted the required paperwork.  They only accept 50% of the people who apply--they want to make sure that we are ready, and that our bodies can handle it.  I was accepted on my 25th birthday.

I am a little nervous about the insurance approval...I am an engineer at a semiconductor company and we have pretty good insurance that covers weight loss surgery, but I am still scared that they may deny me.  Please keep me in your prayers, as this, my husband being gone, and work has been stressing me out lately.

The New U program requires a coach--my husband was going to be my coach, but I don't know if he will be around for everthing...I may as my Mom to do that for me.  My parents and inlaws are very supportive of my decision.

Thank you all for your support as well!

God's peace,

Krista
