I started my journey in 2000 right after the birth of my first child. It took me four years to finally decide on a doctor to perform my surgery. I had several consultations with many doctors, 15 to be exact. It was not until I found Dr. Daniel Swartz in Fresno, CA that I finally felt confident that I decided to have the procedure. Within in minutes of meeting with Dr. Swartz, I knew he was the right surgeon. Within two weeks of having my consultation with with Dr. Swartz, I was approved by my insurance and had the surgery. The first two days after surgery, I felt that I had made a terrible mistake and even asked my doctor if this can now be reversed. Now, being over a hundred pounds lighter, I laugh at the fact I even doubted my decision. I do however wish I would have done it sooner. Since my surgery, I have had thyroid cancer and had to go through another surgery, radiation and from that have regained a bit of weight but am now on the tail end of the procedure and now I am slowly losing the weight that I had gained.
