Hello All!

Congratulations on your choice of weight loss surgery, I hope nothing but success and great health for all of you!

Well, my story.

I come from a long line of big people who enjoy their food, and every party/family get together/ occasion (special or not) involves enough food to feed an army.

I've always been a very active person, softball in the summer, and hockey in the winter. But still I gained ...

Ever since i was about 12, i have been over weight. I was able to lose some weight during the summer of tenth grade, but very quickly put it back on, and I did not lose it in a healthy way. I just stopped eating all together except once a week. Not a good choice at all.

When I was 18, I was about 200 pounds, it was managable. I had finished school and was in college, as well as working. Within one year, by my 19th birthday, I was 307 pounds! My weight was taking a toll on my health and I was beginning to complain of constant body aches, migraines, my menstral cycles were off and very very irregular and painful. My blood pressure was sky rocketing. The final straw before I finally got the ball rolling on WLS was when my gyno told me "chances are, at this rate, you can not have children of your own." Thats heart breaking for a 19 year old who wants nothing more out of life then to be able to spoil a child she created with the love of her life. "We can hope for the best." is all I kept telling myself.

So I left the Dr. office and went home and spoke to my parents, told them the possibilities and spent about a week or so "emotionally eating" in my bedroom. I finally got in to see my family doctor and asked about WLS. He immediately petitioned my insurance company with a surgeon he had referred people to in the past.

I was approved within 10 days I had received my "acceptance letter".

I was very frightened of such a large and life changing procedure so I put off going to my consultation for a couple of months. just kept blaming crazy work schedules for not being able to make the appointment.

In august 2008, I met my now husband. I spoke to him about WLS and went over all of the research I had found and my Dr. had given me. We decided it was a great opportunity, the first week of september I had my consultation and was booked for surgery!

After surgery, my husband  was able to stay at the hospital with me. I remember being rolled out of ICU, still very groggy, and seeing my Christopher standing there with a beautiful arrangement of flowers and a teddy bear. My hospital stay was very good, only had one problem with a lazy nurse, more less treated the WLS patients as lesser people. Thankfully only had her one night.

In the first 10 months I went from 307 pounds to 221 pounds. I plateaued for about a month or so, then since the one year mark have lost only 40 pounds, due to my lack of caring.

We planned our wedding, was working to pay it all off, made a huge move, just excuses I know, but none the less, this is why I gave up putting my health first. Thankfully I haven't gained!

As of two days ago, I'm back on track and so thankful I have found this site. Life saver! & of course thankful for my new support system on the site, it makes the day easier knowing someone who knows exactly what you're going through!

I'm 45 pounds away from goal weight and maybe some cosmetic surgery :$ I hope to reach my goal by my 3 year anniversary, November 10, 2011
