Six Months Post-Op (11/4/10)
Nov 03, 2010
Today I am officially six months post-op and I have to say that I feel so great. My energy level is off the hook, I exercise 6 times a week and get plenty of rest and try to eat the healthy foods. I don't always eat the right things but becasue I'm still in the honeymoon phase I can't eat but so much of anything so even though I'm not eating the most healthy foods its still allowing me to lose the weight. I do know that the exeercising is helping also. Well this mornings weigh-in was 192.8, woohoo!! My goal is 160 by my one year anniversary which I feel I will be there way before then, I have 32 more opounds to lose in six months to reach my goal. Well I will be back in touch soon with more porgress on how I'm doing.
Getting closer to my goal! 9/24/10

9/1/10 almost 4 months post-op
Sep 01, 2010
Saturday 9/4/10 will be 4 months post-op for me, and I can't complain. Lets see I've been more active than I have in years, went to the Outerbanks on vacation with the family a couple of weeks ago and was able to join in the fun with the family. I played laser tag, I put on a bathing suit and went to the beach, I walked each morning with family. I have been losing on average about 2-3 pounds a week, which is what my doctor says is on point. I started my journey on August 21st 2009 at 298 pounds...as of Monday August 30th 2010 I'm at 216 pounds which is 82 pounds lost since the journey began. However I had the surgery on May 4th 2010 and I was 277 the day of surgery so I've loss 61 pounds in 4 months not bad. My goal is to reach 160 pounds by my surgerversary date May 4th 2011. I posted some new pictures of me, check them out. Until next time chow baby!!!!

5/7/10 I finally had my surgery
May 07, 2010
I had my surgery on Tuesday May 4th at George Washington Hospital in Washington DC. It went well and was unevetfull. I came home last night two days after surgery, I was constantly told I was doing great while inthe hospital. The staff at GW were great and I wrote a personal note about my day and night charge nurse and my night Medical Tech, they made my stay great. I'm feeling good better than I expected not knowing what to expect. I'm having a struggle getting the liquids in , but I'm trying to get my protein shakes in first and then my water and then if I have room left I will have either some sugar free jello or some sugar free popsicle. I will post again soon when I have a weight loss number to annouce, until next time say la ve!!!
Surgery Date 4/3/10
Apr 02, 2010
I finally received a surgery date, its going down on May 4th, 2010. I have been so exhausted with waiting on the phone to ring with a surgery date, especially since I was approved on Feb. 24th. I'm anxious, nervous, scared and just want it all over, and just hope that I have a successful experience. I have to be on a liquid diet two and a half weeks before the surgery, to lose as much weight as possible. Kaiser requires it, when you are having lapascopic RNY, Its to reduce the liver as much as possible. Well I will update a few more times before the surgery and definitely after it. I have two appts. before the surgery, with the nitrionist and the surgeon.
Until later, tootles!!!!!
Finally Approved (2/28/10)

My journey
Nov 05, 2009
I'm still on the journey of losing weight pre-surgery as of 10/26/09 I have lost 13 pounds since 8/21/09, not bad. I'm exercising 4 days a week for an hour, and eating healthier. But I hope its all worth it, I still have a lot of questions about do I really want to have surgery or take 2 years and try to lose it naturally, since I'm doing so good right now with my life change. I just fear never being the same and all the pills and vitamins required scares me. It's one thing to take a multi vitamin and if you miss one here or there nothing will happen, but the idea that taking a pill or not is the difference between life and death. Based on the mandatory program that Kaiser requires you to go through, I won't have surgery until around mid February if I decide to go through with it. Although I want the results that having gastric by-pass will afford me, I still need to be realistic with how much commitment is involved in post-surgery. So I will continue through the program and let God guide me as to whether or not when the time comes if I get on the table and make the most needed change in my life.
