Over three months since surgery

Nov 15, 2009

It has been a while since I posted anything to my blog. Never been much for keeping a journal or diary and I see this is no exception. However, I will give some updates to what has been happening over the past three months.

Minor setback occurred at 10 days out. My incision got infected and opened up and started draining. Did a 10-day regimen of antibiotics and the incision closed up again and I am doing well. At 6 weeks out, I returned to water aerobics and started walking regularly. My weight loss would stall for about a week and I would get frustrated and think that I had done something wrong, however members of my support group told me that was not possible. I probably stopped seeing the scale move but I was surely losing inches. They were right. They also told me to stop weighing myself every day and I did (once per week).

Had some "Hey Now" moments. You know those times when something happens that you totally did not expect. I put on my husband's PJ bottoms and they fit. (size 34in waist). It was really nice to be able to sleep in his PJ's.  I was cold one night I a grabbed his leather jacket and it fit. YIPPEEE!!!

Moments like those, made me think, I don't care what that DAMN scale says, I am losing weight. LOL!!!

Finally found a protein shake that I can tolerate after a lot of trial an error.  EAS Advantage Protein Shake - Strawberry Cream.

Also, I like dancing in the mirror again. It is nice to look at myself and not get depressed.
