At my heaviest in 2001 at 340 pounds, I thought my life was pretty well over.  I was miserable, in pain all the time.  I went on a short trip to Maryland to pick up an Umbrella Cockatoo I adopted from a rescue and met someone that had receltny had gastric bypass.  I started researching about it and went and discussed it with my doctor.  It all went very fast after that.  I talked first to my doctor in later March and had the surgery in August (Kaiser was very good to me)  I had great success through the surgery and active involvement with Overeaters Anonymous.  I also was very faithful in my exercise, becoming a lang distance racewalker, hiking, bicycling to wrk, and in general very active.  Having some trouble now, in my seventh year since surgery.

Had my WLS  in Aug 2001, a panni in December 2001, donated a kidney in june 2006 to a cousin, had knee replacement in Feb 2008.

I have been married for 36 years, second marriage.  I have two adult children and four grandchildren, also mostly grown  I am a manager in public service and am fairly active in my community.
