Hello my name is Laurie Landy. I am 42 yrs old and have been overweight my whole life. In high school I was my smallest wearing a size 13/14 which I would love to be now but back then everyone was a size 2/4 so I was the big one even then. I am a true food aholic especially sugar and carbs. I have been divorced 2x no kids. I am now married to the most wonderfull man. He is also overweight and unfortunately 1 of the many things we have in common is our love of food :-) I have been wanting to have the gastric bypass for several years now but up until recently have not had insurance that covers it. I had my initial apointment with the surgeon last week. I have to go in January 16th to have an endoscopy. Dr Oh requires it so that he can make sure there are not any problems with the stomach as ulscers or lesions. I then have a follow up 1/28/08. I was informed by the receptionist that a letter has allready been submitted to my insurance so I am hoping by the end of January I will know if it is approved and possibly get a date. I am very nervous and I am hoping he can do it laproscopic. He says if I can lose about 40lbs prior to surgery he should be able to do it that way. I am just freaked out about having staples in my stomach ewww. Well that's about all for now I will update as the time progresses.
