I never been thin! I think I remember size 14 in seventh grade.......
In May of this year my company started a 5-10-25 program. Eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, walk 10,000 steps a day, and your goal is to try to get to a BMI of 25.
Well, I was not pleased at my weight, and knew it was up, but I really was shocked to see my actual BMI.
I was also short of breath walking into work. I have high blood pressure. My mom is a type II diabetic.
This all started looking like a road to disaster, and a very short life span. I have only been married for 1 year. My kids are 17 and 19, and I also have a 10 y/o step-daughter living at home with us.
I have this wonderful friend who had gastric bypass surgery and was doing very well. (She looks great)
She had talked to me at length about her experience.
I started researching the surgery on-line, and decided to go to an informational meeting.
I also drug one of my sisters with me.
That was just the first step......
Since then, I have started a twice weekly exercise program, changed my eating habits, a
I have completed the program at the bariatrician's office and now waiting on insurance approval.
I have a great support system: my friend that had surgery, my husband, my kids, my sisters, my co-worker, and the great group of people I exercise with bi-weekly. I am ready and willing to continue this journey.
