Where does my story begin?  I've thought and thought and thought about this because I was not the chubby kid in school.  I was very active, involved in sports, always running around.... so when did the weight pile up?  After searching through pictures, I have decided that it was after the birth of my daughter but before the birth of my son.  So it had to be..... when we "got the girls", my step-daughter and her 2 sisters so that puts us in 1998.  I have done the typical gain 10+ pounds per year because I have become a stress eater over the years.  If you look at me, you can definitely see the stress!

I have dieted and failed - I've tried Weight Watchers, Physician's Weight Loss, Cabbage Soup diet, Buns of Steel workouts, the Mayo Clinic cardiac diet, calorie counting, etc. and I am currently an active member at Weight Watchers on the advice of my physician.

I started the physician supervised weight loss plan in early March and have done ok with it in combination with Weight Watchers and much exercise.  I actually started walking for workouts in February training to walk for a friend in the March of Dimes Walk for Babies.  I also signed up for a 5K at church and completed it May 29, 2010.  I was thrilled that I was able to complete it - certainly didn't set any world records but defintely set a personal record of completing the race.

I want(ed) to have the RNY surgery and would LOVE to be able to do it before the end of the year - lofty goal, I know. But hey, anything is possible here.  My mother had RNY back 7 years ago (I believe) and did fantastic.  Last year she did start gaining some of the weight back - we are both emotional/stress eaters and our family suffered a terrible loss with my 16-year old nephew being killed in an auto accident (hit by a drunk driver).  We have been devastated.

I have several friends who have undergone this surgery and other types of WLS with varying degrees of visible results.  The one thing they have in common is they all wish they'd done it sooner.

I am ready to find the woman who is hiding inside all of this fat.... the woman I see occasionally in pictures..... bring on the WLS!

Update:  So I actually ended up going with VSG on November 19, 2010 and now I'm melting away.  I just started seriously exercising on January 17, 2011 and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
