3 weeks post op and why are gym memberships so expensive?

Dec 12, 2011

3 weeks already - woo hoo! Recovery is still going well, I'm SO happy the drain is gone. The incisions are healing nicely, they itch from time to time (is that part of the healing process?). As far as the food goes, I'm ready for grilled chicken and veggies! I have a few more weeks of the soft and moist food stage, but I'm having to really think of creative ways to prepare the food. I've found that I like Boars Head's line of low sodium deli meats best (they have some great flavors). I also found great protein drinks at Max Muscle, they have flavors like Cinnamon Roll and Tiramisu. For 1 full scoop, it has 140 calories, 1 fat gram, 2 grams of carbs, 0 grams of sugar and 30 grams of protein. The best thing of all, it doesn't taste like a protein shake!

I went thrift shopping with a friend this weekend, and I was shocked by what sizes I can fit into now. Before the surgery, I was a size 24 pant and 3-4 X in shirts, now I can fit into a size 18 pant and 1-2 X shirt (I actually fit into an XL shirt from the Limited!). I can't wait to be out of the plus sizes for good.

I've started scouting gyms to go to, but good grief are they expensive! The best I've found so far is Bally Total Fitness, they do their payments biweekly and they start at $8.99 (about $20 a month!). They also give you a free personal training session when you sign up, which is great! Most place make you pay about $150 for three sessions, but they only charge $89.
I can't lift weights for another few weeks, so I don't think I'm ready to commit to a membership yet. I also don't think my energy level is high enough yet to go work out for a half hour. I have been walking as much as I can, but I get tired so quickly.

I'll keep everyone updated on my progress, thank you all for your love and support!
