My name is Ali. I once was a very thin little girl. When I was in the third grade I had a very serous reaction to one of my medications that landed me in the hospital for a few weeks, they had to do surgery and lots of blood tests.

Since then I have been in and out of hospitals and Emergency Rooms. I have been on and off so many different medications that caused so many "side Effects" that needed more medications. Due to this I have been gaining weight and non stop.

When I went into the hospital in the 3rd grade I weighted 98lbs. In the next year I had gained 102lbs.

I grew up in a family who was over weight and made a point to poke the other family members, they would point out your weight to ignore their own. My mother was the master at this. If I saw a cool jacket or dress her first words would be "your too fat to look good in that" and then she would proceed to try it on and buy it for her. She would force me to get up at 4:30 am and go to Curves with her while she socialized and said "oh I am only here for my daughter, she needs this".

I am now 600 miles away from my family and have found the love of my life, he excepts me for who I am, not for who he can turn me into. For him and our future children, I want to be around a long time, with energy to do all the fun family activities I did not do when I was a child.

I have always considered WLS, however was told by family members that its "the cheating way." Now I realized I am WORTH WLS. I know that may sound weird, but I AM worth it. I am worth wanting a better and longer life for me and my future family. So I started my WLS Journey in March of 2014. I could not be more excited to start my new life.
