I am 35 and have been overweight since childhood and can't wait to lose weight and discover the "new me". I am sick and tired of feelings sick and tired all the time. I have no energy to keep up with my 2-year old son, and I am constantly dealing with acid reflux. I have been on every diet out there - some multiple times, and I have yo-yoed my way to where I am today.

5/19/06 I started the WLS process back in April by seeing Dr. Monte Schwartz and already have a surgery date for June 6, 2006! I am both excited and scared at the same time - this big change is happening so soon. I can't wait!!

6/3/06 My surgery date is approaching fast!! (6/6/06) I am getting nervous, but I am confident that I am doing the right thing. I have already done my pre-op tests, so all that's left is to get it over with and hope for a speedy recovery.

6/9/06 My surgery was on 6/6/06. Everything went well and I am at home doing fine. I just made my first pureed meal and it was very good actually. I am ready to make the changes I need to see the results that I want in my life. I have started doing my treadmill for 30 min. per day (10 min. after each meal). This helps me to feel better after I eat for some reason, so I'm sticking to it. No more acid reflux - if anything, that was worth having the surgery for in itself.

6/22/06 Went to the doctor today and everything is looking good. I am down 17.6 pounds since surgery. I was hoping to lose more, but I am happy that I had the surgery. It will pay off even if it takes me longer to lose the weight.

7/5/06 Happy 4th of July!! I am down 28 pounds since surgery. We had family over for a barbecue yesterday, and I felt great. It did not bother me that I could not eat the way I used to. I actually got in the pool and played with the kids (which is something I would not have done in front of people before). I am already much happier with myself and my body. I feel much more comfortable with myself because I know that it's only going to get better in the coming months.

7/17/06 As of today, I am down 36 pounds since surgery. I am wearing size 18 jeans and couldn't be happier. Nothing feels better than giving away clothes because they are too big. I have even bought a few items a few sizes smaller so that I can try them on every now and then and see how much closer they are to fitting each time. I am happy with eating smaller portions and feel that I appreciate the flavor of the food much more now. The only thing that really bothers me is bread, so I try to avoid it. I use low carb tortillas instead and I'm fine with that. Life is good!

7/19/06 I joined a gym and had my first personal training session today. I worked on my legs and now they feel like jello when I walk. I signed up for the personal training for a year, so I'd better get used to the pain. I know it will get better and it will be worth it. Hopefully it will pay off in my weightloss efforts as well. I am down another 2 pounds (38 total in 6 weeks).

7/29/06 Another 5 pounds gone forever (43 total). I went to my favorite Mexican restaurant the other night and ordered what I used to order before WLS. I ate charro beans, a few bites of rice and some chicken melt. I mostly ate the chicken, avocado and vegetables on the chicken melt - I tasted a bite of the tortilla and skipped it. I even had 2 tortilla chips. I broke them up into little pieces and dipped each and every little piece in the salsa - they serve you 3 different kinds and they are all to die for, so I couldn't pass it up. Let me tell you, I have never enjoyed this meal as much as I did. I actually tasted all of the good flavors instead of gulping the food down without even chewing really like I used to do. I don't think I'm missing out on anything. This is a wonderful thing.

8/18/06 The weight seems to be coming off a little slower lately (49-50 total). I keep going up and down this week. I have increased my cardio to 25 minutes per day and have been training with my personal trainer 3 times a week. I think that this might have something to do with it. I am starting to fit into size 16's and 14's so I am not going to worry about the scale. I know that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing and it will pay off soon.

9/6/06 Today is my 3 month anniversary and I am down 56 pounds. I am doing 30 min. of cardio per day and weight training 4 times per week. I can really see a difference in my physique. Even though the pounds are coming off slower, I feel great. I am fitting into smaller clothes now - I enjoy trying on different sizes in my closet to see my progress. I tried on a size 12 in jeans and they actually zipped up! Granted, I would never wear them out of the house that tight, but give it a few more weeks and they'll be fine.

10/7/06 I can't believe how fast the months are going by. I have lost 67 pounds in 4 months. The size 12 jeans that were tight last month - I wore them the other day. They're not even tight anymore. I feel great. My endurance has really increased at the gym. Exercise has become a part of my daily routine. The only thing that I still have problems with is drinking enough water and protein, but I plan to work on that this month
