11 months!!!

Nov 08, 2008

I can't believe it's been eleven months since surgery.  I updated my ticker for the first time in 80 days.  I'm down 4 pounds since then.  Is this good?  Or bad?  Should I be trying to lose more weight?  I think so.  I truly haven't been trying as hard lately.  Yes, I'm getting my protein in but I've been snacking on pretzels and crackers and I know I've got to cut that out.  I need to get back to 6 small meals a day and no snacking.  I also have continued to exercise and feel like I could almost call myself physically fit.

What can I add to my list of what I love about WLS?

1.  I climbed a 42 foot wall !!!
2.  Shopping for size 10.
3. Never having to look at the ugly plus size clothes.
4.  More energy.
5.  Easier to sit on the floor and bend down to tie my shoes or pick something up.
6.  I don't spend 95 % of my day thinking about how fat I am.

Here's what I love about WLS.

1.  I can comfortably cross my leg when I am sitting.
2.  On the air plane I had to make the seat belt smaller.  Last time I was on the very biggest setting.
3.  Yesterday I bought some clothes for work, all in the misses department, NOT THE PLUS DEPT.
4.  When I go upstairs my knees don't hurt, actually I can run up the stairs and feel light.
5.  I never eat any kind of sweets, and I don't miss them.
6. I can walk 3.9 on the treadmill.
7. My skin looks great.
8. I'm finding other ways to deal with stress and boredom.
9. I have a lot more energy.
10. I've lost 58 pounds.

Second day back to work

Jan 16, 2008

Today was harder than yesterday.  I had to move around a lot more, not just the classroom, but all over the building.  It seems like the more I move around the more nauseated I feel.  I had a hard time even getting in 8 ounces of protien drink, 4 in the morning and 4 at lunch.  So I'm taking tomorrow off.  I just feel like my body was screaming, "More rest!"

First Day Back to Work!

Jan 15, 2008

When I walked into my classroom today the students had a huge sign welcoming me back with all their signatures and sweet sentiments.  The sub, my former student teacher, left copious notes, got through all the curriculum and graded a lot of the papers.  It was a great way to go back.

I was definitely tired, and wasn't my normal teacher self.  I did most of the teahing sitting down, which I never do.  But everything went just fine.  The kids were cooperative.  I'm blessed to have such a great class this  year.

I still have pain in the abdomen, especially when I start moving around.  I took tylenol today, but I don't think it makes a bit of difference.  Also, as far as the pain goes, I remind myself that when I first came out of the hospital, it really hurt just to laugh.  Thank God, I can laugh now!

I have to confess somthing here.  I love American Idol.  I'm so glad it is starting tonight.  It is a show my whole family watches togehter.  Also, It gives us teachers something to talk about at lunch.  So I'm getting ready for show time.

Ciao
