An easy "weigh" out... I don't think so!

Aug 12, 2009

Wow... I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since my WLS!! Lets see... for the past 4 weeks my weight has been at a stand still. Which, I'm not too happy about but, at least I haven't gained. Apparently I am in what is called, "Bandster Hell!" Which means, that you aren't losing any weight (possible gaining) and can eat pretty much anything. From what I have read, this is normal because the swelling around the stomach has gone down and the band hasn't been filled. Maybe I didn't research this part... but my thoughts were... since there is a band around your stomach then there would be some restriction.... Ummm, not so much! I am trying my hardest to not eat much... but  I know I am eating more than 4oz. Luckily I haven't gained any weight though. Which I am very thankful for. Next week I go for my first fill. Hopefully it will help get me out of Bandster's Hell. I'm a little nervous about the fill... not sure what to expect. But more excited than anything to finally get the fill and hopefull start losing the weight again.

Now.... time to vent a little. My niece, who is 13yrs old, told me the other day that I have taken the easy way out trying to lose weight. Her comment disturbed me a lot because now I am thinking, is this what people really think about WLS?? I told her, if anything it is the hardest way out.... mentally and physically. And that for me, this was the only way out. The only way out to hopefully prevent having diabetes, heart disease, etc.. that come from being overweight. It just bothers me that she looks at this as an easy "weigh" out! Has anyone else been told this?
