Update SEpt. 26, 2008

Sep 26, 2008

Well, Lets see a lot has happened since my last post.  On Monday Sept. 8, 2008 I recieved my insurance approval.  Two years of trying and I finally have it.  My surgery date was Monday Sept. 15, 2008.  I never thought it would be that fast but stranger things have happened.  I am now 11 days post op and for the most part doing well.  I havent had a lot of pain or anything.  My biggest problem right now is being able to take enough fluids and I seem to get light headed when I am up and about for a while.  I saw Dr. Kappa on Tuesday of this week and exected to be able to go back to work next week but to my surprise he is telling me not until after Oct. 14.  I feel very guilty for not being there but I know I have to do what he tells me and I am sure it is for my own good.  I guess my idea of taking it easy and his are two different things.  Anyway just wanted to update a little.  Please keep me in your prayers.  ( As of Tuesday I was down 20 lbs)

Well, lets see since my last post I have chosen another surgeon, had my phyc evaluation,  and gotten most of ducks in a row.  I finally found someone at the insurance company that could help me figure all this mess out and it is starting to look hopeful.  I see Dr. Kappa on Monday Aug. 11 and hopefully he will have good knews for me.  Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I am still a big ol' mess but am looking forward to all that changing.

Wow.. it has been about 18 months since my last update.  The sad thing is that I am still just as heavy as I was the last time.  In March of 2007 I had my gall bladder removed.  I feel better but they couldnt do the surgery along with a gastric bypass because I wanst through the weight ins and approval process.  During this time I found out from personal experiance that my Dr.'s office staff was totally incompitent.  I started to see an indocrynologist for my PCOS and he wanted me to wait on having the surgery.  He said I wasnt sick enough.  Anyway, I did finish my weigh ins but did not successfully lose the 10% that insurance wanted me to.  At this point I think I just gave up.

About 2 months ago I changed PCPs and am considering the surgery again.  My work is getting ready to change insurance carriers from BCBS to Cigna.  I am not sure what that will mean either.  I just know I have to do something.  My knees are killing me.  I just keep getting bigger and bigger and my blood pressure is all of sorts again.  If you are reading this please keep me in your prayers because I am a total mess.

Hopefully next time I post it wont have been so long and I will be in better spirits.

It doesnt seem like it has been that long ago that I updated but I guess it has been a while.  Let's see what has happened since Nov?  I have lost down to 262.  Which is good and bad. I met with my surgeons office on Jan. 4.  They wont count any of the wait I have lost prior to this date.  So I lost close to 20 pounds for nothing.  I still have to lose 10% of the 272 pounds that I weighed the day I went to the office.  I have to do monthly weighins for 6 months and then when its all said and done I may not qualify for the surgery.  I am a little aggrivaited at the whole system.  If I had been successful at losing weight in the past I wouldnt need the surgery.  Oh well, I will update more later.

I really dont like sitting around waiting and that is exaclty what I have to do right now.  Jan 4 seems like a lifetime away.  I wish there was something I could do to speed up the process or at least be proacitve in some way.  I have started to keep a food journal and cut out the soft drinks. I love Pepsi and Dr. Pepper.  But I am pop free for 10 days now.  I havent had any sweets either.  I am down to 268 now but am very nervous about loosing enough weight to be under 40 BMI.  I know people have told me that the BMI they look at is the before weighloss but I am still a little nervous.  I figured it out that if I loose down to 264 I still have a 40.1 BMI and would only leave me about 8 pounds to loose to reach the 10% my insurance will require me to loose. Well, I guess I will keep working on the weight loss and keep looking at these before and after pictures.  They are an insperation!!!!
