Darn, I want a cigarette!

Dec 17, 2010

Hello everybody.  Within this last week, I reluctantly quit smoking because I decided to have the lap band surgery, then changed to having VSG done in Mexico, and just 48 hours ago cemented the deal by booking the surgery date along with the flight and hotel to Mexico going by myself in a little more than a month from now.

Maybe the trigger to smoke is that  I am anxious and excited now that its REALLY true.  I am going to do this finally after 32 years of struggling hard with this thorn in my side!  The shock of what is going to take place was at first upsetting, because I really was trying hard to lose weight on my own.

I thought I was a total failure.  Trying with Atkins, raw veganism, hypnotherapy, the hot dog diet, grapefruit diet, cabbage diet, water diet, along with countless ways of exercising I was truly exhausted.  I was desperate and was just ready to quit dieting/exercise once again after 200 times of trying.   But I realized that we all need help in different areas of our lives.  It is all individual.  Some people have no trouble eating well and just enough, working out each and every day with not a pain or in their body or gasp in their breathing.  Some people like myself and many others accept that they need help in those areas as we are stronger in other elements in our lives in which we don't need assistance.

I wish cigarettes weren't the sacrifice I had to make, but I am glad that I have been off of them for the longest time ever since I was 17 years old.

Hoohum.  I got about 6 months total of abstaining from the Pall Malls.  I better stock up on sugar free gum and chocolate hard candy!

Blessings everyone!
