I was a skinny child but once I started puberty I ballooned up.  I tried to maintain my larger size but with being put down by my family (my father & brother mostly) I failed miserably.  I am a mother of 3 and loved to be pregnant because it meant I lost weight.  The metabolism boost pregnancy gave me always caused me to lose weight – on average I lost 20 lbs just by being pregnant.  I maintained a lot of the weight I lost for a while but it always crept back up on me.

After having a C-section with my 3rd child I ended up gaining over 50 lbs in one year.  It wasn’t like I was sitting there eating all day long – actually, during that time I had been put on a 1200 calorie a day diet and still continued to gain weight.  In 2007, a doctor aggravated my already “bad back” and since then I have had chronic back pain that has caused a very sedimentary lifestyle that includes prescription narcotics to deal with the pain.

I am tired of being fat and I know how good I feel when I weigh a lot less.  The military lifestyle my family leads doesn’t work well with obesity but trying to get the government insurance to pay for WLS is almost as hard as trying to lose the weight in the first place.  We shall see…
