Post Op - 6 weeks

Oct 20, 2007

What a journey! I am now 6 weeks post-op and have lost 27 pounds. I have had no complications and feel extremely good. I can't believe that only 2 months ago I was just thinking about having WLS. Wow...I wish I done this sooner.
Protein....What can I say. I have difficulty with getting in enough protein. I simply detest the protein shakes and powders. They make me gag. The reflex is so strong now I have problems even eating a protein bar because I can smell the protein. I have found the "New Whey" protein shots and can tolerate them. The shots contain 42 grams of protein, 0 Carbs, 0 Sugar and taste like jello that has not totally set.  I am able to keep them down since I can drink them in about 3-4 swallows. I try to drink one of them a day in addition to my meals. At my one month Dr. appointment I was told I needed 92 grams of protein a day. I don't understand why that is so much more than what I was originally told, 45 - 65 grams. Dumb me...I never questioned it. I know that I will never be able to get in that much protein without supplementing my diet with those protein shots.......and I just don't believe I can tolerate 2 of them a day.
I am so excited for the future. I will be able to do things that I never would  do in the past because of the  way I looked. I want to scuba dive in the crystal blue water off of Belize.
I love the changes I am seeing in my body. My clothes are baggy now and folks at work are asking me what is different......funny huh?
