I saw my surgeon yesterday for my initial consultation. I thought i wanted the lapband when i went in, but now i am not sure. I can tell he thinks the bypass is better but he would not admit it. My bmi was only 38.3 but he thinks i will be approved because of  health problems i have (hiatal hernia, acid reflux, heel pain, snoring-probably sleep apnea, and urinary incontinence sometimes). I hope he is right. I am going to research the two surgeries further. I don't have to decide until a week before the surgery he said.

I have a new appointment for January 10th 2007. My BMI is now 39.9. Never thought i would be happy about that but i need it to be 40 for insurance requirements. I am not sure whether i will choose the 3 month comprehensive or the 6 month pcp program( diet and exercise program) that my insurance requires. I am going to wait and ask the Surgeon's office which one has the better chance of being accepted from my insurance company.

Today was the day i was supposed to have my initial consultation with Dr. Holover. While i was in the shower, my husband got the call that the Dr. had to cancel due to an emergency surgery. I am bummed but to be honest, i was not sure i would qualify because my BMI is under 40. I am going to reschedule and put on 10 pounds to qualify. I hope my insurance will cover it.
